Shout out to the responsible dog breeders out there! Thanks to these responsible breeders, we have healthy animals.
With purebreds, we understand the personality and health issues of the dog, and sometimes that is needed. If you are a laid-back family, you don't want an over-active dog. If you live in an apartment, you don't want a dog that's going to need it's own room.
And sometimes that's why the purebreds end up at the shelter. By knowing a dog's breed, you will have an idea of the personality and possible health issues. If you are attracted to a certain breed, please do your research.

Yesterday, I mentioned 4 questions to think about before bringing home a pet.
Another great tip is once home, start a list of qualities about your pet that you know based on your interactions with them:
🐾 Do they act a certain way during dinner time?
🐾 Do they act a certain way when they want to play?
🐾 Do they act a certain way when they really would rather be left alone?
🐾 When you observe your animal interactions, do they match up with what the rescue said?.
These are things that you want to be mindful of as you go through life with your pet.
When you bring a pet home, it's a great time to have a check-in with the animal, to help both of you to get to know each other! That's where my 90 minute Intensive comes in! Set up a FREE 20 minute Clarity Call to make sure this program is right for you.

Some people are not comfortable with the idea of seeing a counselor to help them work through their grief process. That there is a stigma attached to getting help. It is very honorable and within the scope of self care to ask for help when the powerful emotions of grief become overwhelming. It doesn't make the bereaved any less of a human being because they need a little assistance.
If you are grieving the loss of a beloved animal companion (or if you know of someone who is) and would like some support that is nonjudgmental, you are invited to attend my monthly Pet Loss Support Group TONIGHT at 6:00 PM via Zoom.
This is a safe space where everyone is treated with compassion, understanding and dignity.
To attend, you will need to fill out an intake form prior to joining, so I have an idea of your needs and how I can help. This is a pay-what-you-want service.
The group will be for counseling only and NO animal communication.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me via DM. Ready to register? Click on the link.

Do you know what a Tapir is? Well it's World Tapier Day!
This is an animal that is native to Central and South America and there are only 4 different species of them. It is currently on the endangered animal watch list. Learn more about this animal, visit the Tapir Day website!

There's no bad pets, but there are bad pet owners. They are considered bad pet owners, but they aren’t deliberately bad. People will do things because either they have old information, they have inaccurate information, or they just really just don't know what they are doing or what they signed up for.
Before getting a pet, you need to think about:
1 What attracted you to the animal?
2. Are they a good fit for you?
3. If you have other animals in the house, are they a good fit for the other furry family members that are in the house?
4. Did you do any research on the breed?
These are things that you want to consider and be mindful of as you consider bringing a new pet into your home.
I want to hear your stories about when you brought your pet home. Share them below!

It's Help A Horse Day. Help A Horse Day was started by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) in 2014, but its origin dates back much further to the creation of the ASPCA itself. It all started in 1863 when Henry Bergh, an American diplomat posted in Russia, saved a horse from being abused by a carriage driver. The owner responsible was arrested on 26 April that year for his mistreatment of the animal, the first time this had ever occurred, and Bergh went on to found the ASPCA in 1866. Help A Horse Day therefore honors this significant date for the ASPCA and horses everywhere. Thank you to @daysoftheyear for that fact.
I want to talk about the myth about how there are good pets and there are bad pets. Well - there's no bad pets but there are bad pet owners. There are considered bad pet owners, but they aren’t deliberately bad. People will do things because either they have old information, they have inaccurate information, or they just really just don't know what they are doing or what they signed up for.
This is why it's really critical to do your research on the animal you want, because not every pet is going to be the perfect companion for your home or for your lifestyle. An example is if you have a lab who's in their prime, who wants to run and be active. They have no business being in a house that's really sedentary. That would be a mismatch.
Tell me - did you do any research on your pet before you brought it home?
