On this day 11 years ago came to Leesburg 🎂😍 Not bad for two engineers. Been bringing ~10,000 batches of the freshest roasted coffee to Leesburg and the surrounding area. 💪🔥

Paul and I are proud to have participated in this important GiveChoose event today in supporting A Farm Less Ordinary, a great organization that provides employment and home to adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities in our community.

With the temperature hovering in the mid 90s this week 🥵 I was mentioning cold brew coffee on our website.
Though what I was really wishing for was a cup of the most delicious and refreshing Greek iced coffee (Freddo Cappuccino) that was introduced to us by our good friends and long time customers Diane and Helik.

“The Natural Processing Method:
With natural processing, the coffee bean remains in contact with the coffee cherry for longer than during the washing process. That's because the beans stay inside the cherry throughout the entire drying process.

How Does the Natural Process Affect the Taste of the Beans?
Unwashed, natural process coffee tends to have a slightly fruity flavor. Due to the fact that the bean is in contact with the fruit for a longer period of time than in washed coffee.

The sun-dried process helps bring forward those fruity sugar flavors. This can also make natural coffee taste a bit more fermented than washed coffee (where the fermentation is more controlled).“

LocoBeans Coffee is joining our dear friend Busard this year in participating in the GiveChoose Campaign to raise money for the wonderful A Farm Less Ordinary growers and the organization that is their home.

Won’t you join their calls? Their goal is to raise $34,000.

Your donations contribute to the following organizational expenses:

$6,000 covers the cost of employing one adult with intellectual disabilities during the growing season (YUP. Wages have gone up recently, and their payroll for the Growers in 2022 is over double what it was in 2021.)
$3,000 pays for a new lawnmower, w**d and bush wackers, shovels, five rolls of landscape fabric, three rolls of plastic mulch, and one roll of row cover + hoops
$1,000 pays for 100 raspberry or blueberry plants the employees will harvest to create jams for sale year-round
$500 helps pay for the plastic boxes they need to order for this year's vegetable box subscription program
$350 covers the cost of one paycheck to a Grower with an intellectual disability
$90 covers the cost of gas for our tractors and farmers' market minivan for two weeks
$65 pays for 50 seed plug trays in which they start seedlings each spring
$25 buys 5 packets of tomato seeds
