If that’s not long enough, if the judgment is docketed in the land records, it can be extended for two additional ten year periods, totaling thirty years! On this day, December 1, in 1955, Rosa Parks was arrested for refusing to relinquish her seat on a bus for a white passenger – this brave and critically important event led to the boycott of the Montgomery, Alabama bus system, banner Supreme Court rulings preventing segregation on public transportation, and the progress of the civil rights movement.
