Just wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you to all of the labor and delivery nurses who helped with the delivery of our daughter this weekend: Brooke, Renee, Caitlyn and Jennifer. I had a very challenging few hours after delivery from complications and these nurses were amazing and took great care of me and my daughter. Thank you 💕🙏
Our sweet Amaris was born August 9th at the New North Tower! Everyone was wonderful. Special thanks to nurse Anne for the amazing support during labor and also to our midwife Shannon from Loudoun OBGYN/Midwives. #worththewait #loudoungrown

Hey Fellow Mommas to be in NOVA. It’s a wild time to be pregnant and wanted to say good news is we aren’t alone even though this time can feel isolating.

Was honored to have this published by Her View From Home a letter to my baby to be and thought it maybe the reminder you could use too.

Happy National nurses week to all the nurses out there who are risking your own safety to take care of all of us during this incredible difficult time. A special shout-out to the NICU nurses at The birthing inn at Inova Loudoun for keeping an extra special eye on Baby Kameryn in April for us. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!! You all are amazing and we cannot thank you enough.
Happy Valentine’s Day to all of the wonderful staff at The Birthing Inn! We are so grateful and are forever indebted to all the wonderful NICU nurses, doctors and TBI staff who have shown/ continue to show our girls and us so much love during their stay.

Today, we celebrate the one year anniversary of our North Tower “Opening Day!”

While we were slated to open on April 25, 2020, we quietly opened early to safely accommodate the COVID-19 patient population with the onset of the pandemic last spring.

To celebrate this historic milestone, the first babies born in the new building were invited to a Washington Nationals “Opening Week” game. Here is a picture of Anne – the first baby girl born in the North Tower – enjoying “Opening Day” at Nationals Park!

Kelly Ellington, RDN with Inova's Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation department, is getting the vaccination shot to protect herself and her unborn baby from the effects of COVID-19. See what she had to say:

“Pregnant women may be more likely to suffer severe illness from COVID-19, including ICU admission, the need for mechanical ventilation, and even death. Furthermore, pregnant women who contract COVID-19 may see adverse pregnancy outcomes such as preterm birth. Early evidence suggests that vaccinated mothers may pass COVID-19 antibodies to their children either in-utero or via breastmilk, which offers me additional peace of mind that I am doing the right thing for my future child. These factors, along with my increased risk for exposure to the virus as a healthcare worker, led me to my decision.”

#FridayFaces ~ Today’s healthcare hero is Jacinta, BSN, RNC-MNN, IBCLC, RLC, one of our terrific team members. She’s been a RN for more than four decades, 13 years here with us in The Birthing Inn (TBI). She loves her second family at TBI and considers it not only a great place to work but to thrive as well.

Jacinta has a strong personal commitment to her calling and is passionate about exceeding expectations in caring for the unit’s most challenging patients and delivering positive patient experiences. She loves working with mothers and their babies and helping them gain confidence in taking care of themselves and their newborns especially with their breastfeeding abilities/difficulties.

Fun facts: she grew up in the Philippines, worked in Saudi Arabia and the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands (a US territory) before coming to Virginia in 1999. With her wealth of experience through the years, she’s cared for patients from the beginning of life to the end of life, patients from various backgrounds and diverse populations. Along the way, she’s learned to speak Spanish and Arabic aside from Filipino and English.

Gardening and cooking are two activities that have relaxed her during these challenging times. Spending time with her sweet and adorable two-year-old granddaughter, either in-person or by FaceTime, always makes her day. #InovaHeroes
