On December 9th, our beloved Caesar crossed the bridge into heaven, leaving us completely heart broken. He went into the local vet for a routine neuter and was tragically taken from us. The chief veterinarian of a popular vet in Springfield, VA botched his surgery by removing the wrong organ and blocking blood supply to his bladder. He endured two days of unimaginable pain before we were told what happened, minutes before his death.

We wake up to an emptiness that cannot be described. He was my faithful companion who brought love, laughter, and purpose into my life. At this time, we desperately need love from our community. In his memory, please join us for a socially distanced candlelight vigil with your loved ones. Candles will be provided; please feel free to bring your own.

I just wanted to thank you for the care you're giving to my friend Jf's cat Smallz.I know everyone there and Jf of course are doing all you can for him. God bless you and be safe.
Please, please, please let Jf Richards bring Franklin Farmcat in to visit Doc Smallz. They are best friends and we all know that if Smallz sees Franklin, that would definitely help with Smallz depression. There is just something about Franklin that makes him the best medicine in these kind of situations. Did I also mention that groundhog ointment may help, lol.
Thank you for taking care of Doc Smallz. He is a very special kitty and Dat Dad Jf loves him very much.
Much love and appreciation for you compassion.
Just wanted to say thank you for all you are doing for Doc Smallz Richards. We love him and all his brothers and sisters and dat dadz, Jf Richards You will never find a more loving and devoted cat daddy . We all stand with him. Doc Smallz has alot of his own followers , I think its do to those sexy droopy eyes and his unique gray color. God bless each and every one in this place and know, you are truly loved.

Todayโ€™s #TongueOutTuesday featuring Bleu, a 5 month old Pittie mix who was seen by Dr. Anke Langenbach at the end of June for a left Tibial Tuberosity Avulsion Fracture Repair. This surgery fixes a part of the tibia bone thatโ€™s been displaced by the pull of the quadriceps muscles. This fracture is often seen in young puppies whose tibia has not been fully developed yet and likely caused by falling off a high piece of furniture.

After the successful surgery, Bleu is resting at home and staying comfortable during his recovery! ๐Ÿ˜„

Here is Bleu giving kisses to our surgical intern Dr. David McChesney during his recent recheck appointment with us! ๐Ÿงก

โญ๏ธHappy 4th of July!! Our amazing ER and Critical Care team are always here to help pets in an emergency!
โญ Please CALL our ER FIRST before arrival!
Why? It helps our Doctors prepare, will give you an estimated wait time, and in some cases, they may direct you to hospitals closer to your location, and our team may be able to give you guidance about your pet's condition with steps you can take on the way here to keep them comfortable. Pets are always triaged, just like a human hospital, and those with severe & life-threatening conditions are seen first.

Charlotte says "make sure you go to the vet every year for an exam!"

Charlotte's primary care veterinarian at Seneca Hill Animal Hospital, Resort & Spa found a tumor during her routine physical exam. Normally these specific types of tumors, apocrine gland adenocarcinomas, are not found until they are large enough to be seen or cause discomfort. Charlotte's was not visible at all but because her vet found it early, she has many more options for care!

Good catch, doc!

Bears in Leesburg?!

We have received reports of abnormal bear activity today in the area around Westpark Golf Course in Leesburg, in between Woodburn Rd and Hawling Place, and last night on Foxfield Lane. Bears are typically shy around humans, however, one or more bears have been unusually brazen, and this morning, behaved aggressively towards a leashed dog. This is extremely unusual and could be due to a number of factors, including, but not limited to, nearby cubs, disease, or being fed by humans.

We are asking our community to be bear smart while we work with our colleagues at the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources to work on this situation and keep everyone safe.

In the meantime:
-If you see a bear, please give them as much distance as possible.
-If a bear approaches you, make loud noises, and appear "big" by waving your arms and stomping your feet. If you are at home, bang pots and pans.
-Take down your birdfeeders. Birdseed is a bear favorite, and this time of year, our wild feathered friends have many food sources to choose from.
-Make sure trash and grills are secured in bear traffic areas. This may mean putting them in your garage overnight.
-Make sure your pets are vaccinated for rabies, in the event that they encounter a wild animal who may carry the disease.
-NEVER feed a bear. A bear who becomes accustomed to humans providing a food source develops unsafe behaviors, and is not compatible with suburban life.

If you see a bear actively approaching you or your pets, not running away when you make loud noises, or acting aggressively, please call Loudoun County Animal Services at 703-777-0406 immediately.

We couldn't have said it better, so, we are sharing this infographic from our friends at VIN - Veterinary Partner. It may help answer some questions about 'why' there may be longer waits for appointments with our specialists, why it takes longer to speak to a veterinarian in our ER, and in some cases, why we must direct clients to go to another hospital as our nurses and doctors have full patient wards.
If you need our Emergency Room, please call us, we are here to help 24/7 but as this shows, there are many additional precautions and procedures we follow to keep both you and our team members safe. These take extra time.

We appreciate your patience and all the kind words, cards, and individually wrapped snacks ๐Ÿ˜‰, clients have shared with us.
