Local organizations step up to support youth during pandemic-fueled mental health crisis

Stay Informed! This is an excellent article on the current mental health epidemic among children and teens in Virginia and in Loudoun County, and resources for help and support.

Local organizations step up to support youth during pandemic-fueled mental health crisis For Erin Gallagher, Suicide Prevention Awareness Month in September has a deeply personal significance for her family.

Photos from Integrative Counseling & Relationship Therapy, Inc.'s post 09/13/2021

The Ryan Bartel Foundation had a special screening of the documentary, "Tell My Story", a grieving father telling his story about his son's suicide at age 14. We often think if we tasuicide. Parents, I cannot emphasize enough, this is a film you must see. Become aware, become awake to the epidemic facing our teens today - Clinical Depression, lk about depression and suicide it will make matters worse. The opposite is true. We must engage in the difficult conversations, especially with our teens, when it comes to mental health, bullying and suicide ideation and suicide. Since 2007 and now, suicide in the age group 10-14, has doubled, doubled! Crisis hotlines are receiving calls from 8 years old wanting to die, and are receiving on the average, 1000 calls a week from teens. The video emphasizes social media and "gaming' are contributing factors, yet bullying and lack of peer group acceptance and belonging are the major factors, in addition to a lack of family presence, real communication and connection. Gain more awareness and understanding by watching this film and visit the work of the Ryan Bartel Foundation

Seek the Path Towards Your Becoming and Live Your Most Authentic Self

“Set your mind and heart in the direction of your longing. Boldly and courageously, go out and seek the path that will help you in your quest.” --Dr. Suzanne Nixon

Life is a series of journeys. At each stage of the journey we are given a choice - follow this path, or that path. The path may be smooth or rocky, wet or dry, treacherous or safe or cloudy or clear. For a while you may walk it alone until at one point you decide it is time to seek a guide, for we all get lost and finding our way back again may be challenging.

That indeed, is the role of a therapist: A professional trained guide to help you along your journey discover you as you navigate life’s ups and downs, and find your truth, happiness, purpose and ultimate fulfillment. As an Integrative Mental Health Professional I have an array of pathways you may choose to find your way: counseling, marriage & couple therapy, family therapy, walk & talk therapy, wellness counseling, energy medicine healing and meditation, along with educational seminars to stimulate your mind and speak to your heart. My expertise as an integrative therapist is based on a holistic philosophy honoring the whole person and the uniqueness of each person for one path is not right for all.

I look forward to walking along side you in your journey and offering my best support to you in your Becoming.
