Mother’s day week me, after getting stabbed in the eye with a stick while foraging on an eroded poison ivy covered riverbank
Despite what the influencers may have you believe- flower farming is not all sunshine and roses, full buckets and dazzling armloads.
Flower farmers are farmers- not to be confused with gardeners- who are also very cool and smart. The difference is production. Farmers grow crops for production and usually for profit- and no matter what someone is farming whether its cattle, h**p, veggies or yes- even flowers- its hard work, and not for the faint of heart.
Farming requires dedication, mental fortitude, the ability to adapt, and a sort of resilience that few can find (I wonder if I’ve got it sometimes)
Lately, at county board meetings, through financial assistance programs and generally “in the air” I’ve noticed a great deal of gatekeeping around who is a “real farmer” and who isn’t. I suppose even I could be accused of such in my paragraph above. The bottom line is- If you’re growing something (regardless of scale) at a production level- keep doing what you’re doing! Cuz farmers are important and we need them!
Bringing to Farmer’s Market this Saturday!
Summer is here and with it the sunnies! Come and get them, Lilies, mixed bunches and more seasonal flowers to celebrate the season!

We take orders- visit the online shop or call me to place one time orders for parties and special occasions, or recurring orders for delivery and pick up at intervals of your choosing! Flowers are always locally and sustainably grown right here in the DMV. We use sustainable design practices- reusing what we can, eliminating single use plastics in our floristry, and centering seasonality, our local ecosystems and natural processes.
We did it! The Prime Ag Soils Zoning Ordinance Amendment passed 7 to 2 by the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors last night after 4 years of hard work by many. Thanks to all the folks who came out to protect soils, and farmland and support the future of farming in Loudoun for young and first generation farmers and generations to come! Thanks to the Supervisors, Staff and Stakeholder groups for all the time spent!
Farming is so much more than just growing food- Activism and advocacy is built into it and that is part of why I love it so much! Never a dull moment- always a different hat to wear!
If your interested in backing up the young and vibrant farm community in Loudoun with civic action- DM me- i’ll keep you updated on all the things the Farm Bureau and local farmers have been working on to keep farmland protected from excessive development, data center takeover and all the rest!
Happy Pride Month!!!
Far Bungalow Farm is a q***r owned business, and it feels so good to have (our local flower shop in ) as a headquarters and gathering space for flower/ nature/ agriculture enthusiasts, and also to have frontage and visibility for the q***r community. We’re here! We exist, and we wont be silenced or hidden.
Come celebrate pride and maybe find some community this coming friday- June 7, from 6-10. , and are hosting a PRIDE BALL (if you don’t know-do your research)
Pride cake made by Cher of , herbal cocktails and mocktails by along with botanical hydrosols for sale, I’ll be there with flowers, but also with my karaoke speaker MCing for those who walk a category( again - if you don’t know, maybe just watch this time around)
A cultural note: Q***r ballroom culture is a sacred and treasured tradition of the LGBTQI community dating back to the 1970’s in Harlem. These events/ spaces were made BY Q***R PEOPLE, FOR Q***R PEOPLE (primarily trans women of color) as safe places of expression for those who were unable to express themselves openly in the world without fear of violence.
Please come in the spirit of appreciation and reverence for those who came before who bravely paved the way for this to be a thing right now.
See you there, turn a look!

One thing you expect to see en masse on a flower farm- flowers…
Swipe to see what else we have lots of!
Yep- buckets. Lots of different types of buckets. Some prized for their ability to support a lily with its branching stems. Some fluted, some straight. We use only white buckets if harvesting in the heat. Tiny buckets- i love them. Sometimes we use trash cans as buckets. Some buckets are sh*tty buckets which are the ones we wont be mad if we don’t get back. Some buckets i will never let out of my sight- too valuable.
You’ll see buckets around with farm names and stickers- they circulate in a cute annoying way, and it’s charming to know flower farmers have this little bucket shuffle going on. Like a little - “oh heeyyyy- “ from another flower farmer in the middle of your day- especially when it’s a farmer you don’t know yet :)
Anyways thought you should know another thing about flower growers is that we are bucket connoisseurs.
Don’t steal my buckets. If you want to donate buckets- i love it. People always want to donate vases- no- donate buckets.
Come ask all your growing, vase life, and horticulture questions!
Laura from and maybe a few more of the Rock and River growers will join me at after the festival wraps up on Sunday!
Come show us your plunder, and we will give you the tips!
We love to grow them ❤️ will have them for you at the Thursday- Sunday!
Can u see me?
Harvesting for orders going out Wednesday!
This collective is one of my proudest accomplishments as a flower farmer! It is a labor of love to work with my four partners to bring the most beautiful high quality blooms to florists throughout the DMV!
We all have different skillsets which is lucky because there are lots of hats to wear as flower aggregators!
These are bleeding hearts- my grandma planted them in the 1980’s and now I have lots and lots of strong sturdy stems to cut four our florists and designers! Thanks GRAM!
POV when you take a day off and let the blow out in the field- then there’s nothing left to do but keep them for myself!
gala is tonight and we’ve got these cute construction themed centerpieces heading to the venue now!

Calling all plant nerds!!!
If you know me, you know I love flowers and h**p flowers are no exception! Flower and Garden week just happens to fall on 4/20 this year so it felt only right to shine a spotlight on the h**p plant!
This plant straight up has, and will continue to change the world with its myriad of uses, many of which offer sustainable alternatives to plastics and other non- biodegradable materials we use today. Besides that it’s a beautiful and fun plant that is actually quite easy to grow.
With that said- this workshop with **p will empower to maximize the recourses you have and grow your own healthy h**p plant! Check the link in my bio to purchase tickets- space is limited!

These are hands down my favorite flower to grow. They are the gift that keeps on giving when it comes to vase life- sometimes lasting 3 weeks with proper care. They’re ruffly and romantic and have a soft sweet fragrance. They come in all the colors (except blue) and even some bicolor (what we call picotee in the biz). If you’ve never bought yourself ranunculus before, I encourage you to buy some from your local flower farmer or locally sourcing flower shop this spring!
These beauties grow well in our region with a little protection and can usually be sourced locally from around April to June.
Gonna let the photo tell the story here…
Don’t forget your easter flowers! This is a special order! DM us to get in on the action or stop by at the for flowers, shopping, and brunch/ sweets/ coffee at
