As temperatures rise across Southwest Virginia, knowing the difference between heat exhaustion and heat stroke could save a life.

Heat exhaustion can often be treated by getting to a cool place, hydrating, and resting. Heat stroke, however, is a medical emergency that requires immediate action.

⚠️ The biggest red flag? Confusion, unusual behavior, or someone acting "off." If you suspect heat stroke, call 911 right away.

Take a moment to review the signs and symptoms in this graphic and share it with family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers. Being prepared helps keep our communities safe during extreme heat.

We had a great kick for the 2026 Healthy Bucks program at the Town of Lebanon Farmers Market last Wednesday! Over 275 youth visited the Market from the community and Russell County Public Schools Summer School programs, received 5 free Healthy Bucks, and purchased fresh fruits & vegetables from the Lebanon Farmers Market Vendors !

Kristen from Virginia Cooperative Extension - Russell County provided printed resources for students' bags to learn about Market produce and how to prepare them into delicious, nutritious meals. The Cumberland Mountain Community Services Board Prevention Team provided participants with free tote bags for their produce.

Thanks to our amazing volunteers who made it all happen: Bee, Aaron, Pat, Sarah, Kristen, and Dustin! And thanks to Market Manager Tammy Lasley and all the vendors who ensured the kids would have enough provide to purchase with their Bucks!

Thanks to Ballad Health Russell County Hospital for their sponsorship again this year of the Russell County Health Coalition's Healthy Bucks program!

Come by and see us back at the Market next Wednesday, June 10 from 9 am to 12:30 pm! We are expecting even more summer schools and youth to visit tomorrow, rain or shine!

•Canned soups
• Pasta & pasta sauce

• Canned meats
• Peanut butter
• Breakfast items
• Fruits & jelly

If you’re able to grab a couple extra items during your grocery trip and help us restock the shelves, we would appreciate it more than you know. 🤍

Donations can be dropped off anytime in our 24/7 donation box or through our website wishlist/support page.

Thank you all for continuing to help us serve Russell County. 🤝🏼
