Its so nice to have a truck opening late in this town. We were on our way home from Silver Dollar City and instead of having to stop at a drive thru, we had the opportunity to support local! Its been a while since my family has had the opportunity to go out to get 68 Express By The Rail 1868 food and it does not disappoint. You all better hurry... I heard they sold out last night 🌙

A friday in Lebanon, from a perspective...

My day starts like any other during the week, at Carmen's , where we bake our little hearts out to fill the tummies of Lebanon. Today we basically sold out and that is what the hard work is really about. B***n and I have been creating the menus the last couple months, so it brings a little more pride to our craft when it comes straight from our own creativity! Its been so cool hearing everyone's reactions to some of the items we have brought to you the last couple weeks. For me though, its ;The hallway conversations, the visits from B***ns Nana, the sweet and muffled "hello?" We hear when we have a visitor peak through our kitchen curtains... it all serves a purpose to this big dream we are all trying to accomplish! I love it here 😍

As I head home from work, I am blown away by how busy town is compared to last year. Every time I get out of work, I really do enjoy seeing how filled up our town is. Because what that means is; everyone is living their dream, our community is supporting local and the magic of what this town is creating keeps developing further. Most people here understand the assignment, keep your dollar in your community!

My first thought when errands time came around was, how am I going to keep my dollar in my community? I thought about Petty Eddie Eats and decided to head over to The Buckles Farm to grab; sourdough, eggs and honey. I left with a lot more (as always 😅). I left with produce, candy and some extra baked goods. Also, we always have to grab treats from our friends Harrelson Homestead . My favorite part of the Buckles farmstand is what it represents as a holding space for those providing ways for us to keep our dollar in our community. Lindsey Buckles and her family do an amazing job, not only promoting their vendors, but also educating our community on homestead and farming knowledge. There was one time Lindsey even came to bat for me when someone was bullying me on Facebook, about my bread prices. Lindsey is a leader in the farmstand space and she protects it like the queen she is!!

Last stop while in town was Rocky Rolled Ice Cream . My daughter and brother just had to have rolled ice cream and I cant blame them. On a hot day, when youre craving a sweet treat, along with a little entertainment... This is the spot. The girls do an amazing job of keeping everyone in the dining room engaged in conversation, while they roll up their ice cream creations. While there, I enjoyed a conversation with the owner about the stigma behind teenagers and what they are capable of. I told her how I admire her presence in our community, the leader she has become by showing others age has nothing to do with success and how you show up for your village.

I really do enjoy the town of Lebanon. We have been here 2 years now and theres still so much to explore. So many more people to engage with and share stories with. I continue to look forward to telling the story through the lense of building up our community.

Comment, share and like to keep this series going! What events or businesses would you like to see me engage with? What stories are not being told? I would love to hear from YOU! 🩵🩵

I want to take a minute to thank Giddyup Grill - Food Trailer Tammy Apperson for always believing in me and supporting Flour Jack . I dropped off their Jalapeno and Brioche Buns, in return they gave me their meatloaf special for the day🙂 This is the thing about GiddyUp. They make food that makes you feel at home.. from their homemade patties, to their weekly specials, I can always taste the LOVE. Go check them out at the event at the Downtown Lebanon Missouri Farmers Market until 8pm.

A Monday morning in Lebanon... the first Monday of real Summer vibes. No cars or school bus on the highway, as I made my way into town..

I often catch myself smiling, as I observe what I see around town. 2 woman, walking and talking, I wonder what they speak about? Maybe how they are happy they finally get this time, as their kids enjoy their summer sleep ins...

I find my parking spot in front of The Daily Fix Nutrition , where I get to visit with Meg and we talk about how this town really does hold you down, if you hold them down. Vacations to somewhere, that just for a while, we can clear our minds of all the responsibility it takes to truly be apart of your community.. because sometimes , you really just need to pack a bag with the one you love and let the wind take you where you belong. Before I left, I obviously had to take a picture of my beautiful drink in front of their amazingly drawn out 250 Mural on their window.

Down commercial I went, to take a picture of Sparrow Ridge Bar & Grill new sign. I almost cried as I thought about what a blessing it has been to witness The Sparrow’s Cart success over the last year. I thought about our last meeting, where we spoke about the excitement we had that we would be right across the street from eachother. The impact they envisioned bringing some different culture to Downtown Lebanon Missouri .. over at Carmen's we are always telling our customers about how we cannot wait for them to open! The 229 Project- Lebanon, MO has opened up so many doors for so many people, and not just opportunity, real connection!

As I made my way back up commercial, I snapped a quick photo of our Downtown sign, because there's just something about the way the sun hits that sign on a summer morning. I drove by The Lunch Box Cafe , cars lined up in front, as always. I love how I always see a lot of the same cars and people coming and going from Lunch Box. I keep driving as I wonder what stories are being told in those booths. I look over to see another beautiful 250 Mural.

I make my way back home, thinking about how I am going to be apart of my community this summer. How am I going to strengthen my village? As I pull up to my property, I am reminded I am already making an impact in my community through choosing my village over individual success. My Flour Jack farmstand... my cute little blue farmstand. My farmstand I drew blueprints for, business plans for. I opened it, closed it, sold out, didnt sell anything, even did pay what you can weekends. But something didnt resonate fully, I had been head down, working hard at Carmens, and juggling MY business, her business, my side quests and this ranch, I had to choose. So, the weeds and flowers grow around the farmstand, as it waits to make its return when the community needs it again. Which leaves me to ask my community this question... what does our community of Lebanon mean to you, what does a strong village look like to you? Is it resources? Is it connection? Is it the opportunity for experience? What more can we learn from one another by choosing village over individual success?

Do you like my Lebanon Blog series? Comment, like and share. I am going to do my best to post a blog every week about our town, our people and the connection that means so much to me. Thank you for reading 🩵🩵
