I don’t even have words for how honored we both feel: that God would entrust this church and these people to two people who never imagined being able to lead others in full-time ministry. I pray over my husbands development as a leader and friend to all who come across his path.
I came to Ohio with a hesitant heart, not seeing how it all fit into the plan that I had in mind for our family. Before we officially moved here, I began to wake up hearing “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want” EVERY. SINGLE. MORNING. Not knowing what verse it was or why it was knocking on my heart…
Psalm 23:1-3 says “”The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.“
I began to pray this over our lives and my discontent heart. That God would settle any wanderlust of living elsewhere, that he would cause me to be still, and to hunger for nothing. That included my ideal church or ministry.
After months of waking up hearing/praying Psalm 23, we were invited to a new church.
What I discovered is that there are endless cool states, cities, homes and churches. God showed me that contentment comes with the right community and people that HE has set... And THEN, it will all fall into place and that sense of searching will dissipate. I envied people who were content and thought maybe I just wasn’t built that way. I was wrong. Surrender to HIM is what brings true peace and joy.
All that to say, what an honor to serve alongside this man: doing what we love with what God has given us.
