** The Marvelous Mobile Sort at St. Francis in the Fields - July 2020 **

On a warm evening in July, twenty volunteers from St. Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church in Zionsville took part in The Caring Center’s first ever Mobile Sort. Practicing social distancing and proper safety protocols, the volunteers eagerly jumped in to help sort thousands of donated clothing and household items. The Caring Center’s resale store Classic Reruns in Lebanon sells the gently used items, and the proceeds then fund The Caring Center’s food pantry.

The process of sorting the massive amounts of donations that The Caring Center receives on a daily basis is a time consuming task for their regular volunteers. So, to take on a sort with a bigger group makes it go so much faster and is really fun! So much fun, in fact, that the Walters family of four volunteered at the first annual Great Sort last year and chose to participate again in the Mobile Sort. “Prior to my husband and I meeting, we both volunteered with various organizations,” said Kristin Walters. “Once we became a family, it was a natural progression for us to continue that with our children. For us, helping others is, and always has been, important. We want to leave the world a better place and every bit helps.“

Thank you to all our volunteers for their continued commitment to The Caring Center. We couldn’t do this without you!

If your church, book club, neighborhood, or any other group would like to host their own Mobile Sort, please contact The Caring Center. We will bring the truck loaded with donated items to you and help you coordinate the details.

Douglas and myself would like to first thank our customers for always supporting the store. As everyone is aware or if your not aware the store benefits the Boone County Residents through the Caring Center. I know from my own personal experience it was a true blessing to me when I moved to Lebanon. After meeting Theresa Hanners and shopping at the store for a few years I knew that I wanted to be apart of it. Theresa is one amazing lady, always on the go, caring and always responds and comes to assist us at the store when we need. On top of all the other things she already has apart in. I would also like to mention Amber as many of you know she’s at the Caring Center and also spends a lot of her time volunteering for Classic Rerun’s and many of you also know that she handles the Boone County Indiana Online Auctions for the Caring Center’s items. We also have Mike who does the transport of items to the Caring Center and Classic Rerun’s. Lastly we couldn’t do all of this without all of our wonderful volunteers. These individuals are beyond amazing and are always willing to come at a calls notice if not on there own to help with whatever is needed to get product out and also do a wonderful job helping customer’s when they are there. We had another amazing year and can’t wait to see what next year brings! As always we have lots of nice things out for your shopping needs.
