I’m heartbroken to hear about the tragic death of Charlie Kirk. My prayers are with his wife Erika, their family, and all who loved him.

This senseless act of violence is the fruit of the toxic and hateful rhetoric that too often comes from the far left. We must say clearly that political violence is never acceptable. People who participate in political violence need to be held accountable to the fullest and most harsh's extent of the law. Until we begin to lawfully punish people for their actions and make it a punishment that fits the crime this will continue to happen.

You can have civil discourse and disagreement without being violent, and that is what our republic is founded on and we need to get back to that.

The Bible reminds us: “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.” (Matthew 5:9)

May we choose peace over hate, truth over lies, and prayer over violence.

Public meeting for high school zoning vote set for Dec. 17

Zoomable maps available online

Rutherford County Schools

The Rutherford County Board of Education is scheduled to vote Dec. 17 on proposed changes to high school zones, which will take effect in August 2025.

The meeting is open to the public and will be live-streamed on YouTube.

The School Board previously approved new zones for high schools last fall, with the new zoning scheduled to take effect in August 2025. At that time, the Board stated it would revisit the zone lines to make any growth adjustments before the 2025-2026 school year began.

As part of the rezoning decision, the Board has already approved for rising juniors and seniors to be grandfathered to remain at their current school as long as parents can provide transportation.

As part of the new proposal, the Board will consider a dual zone for one area (see map) between Siegel and Blackman High Schools. In this area, transportation will be provided to Siegel High School but parents can choose to send their children to Blackman High School, as long as the parents provide transportation.

The maps attached are zoomable to show major street names and boundaries. You must open the maps in Adobe Acrobat Reader to zoom.

There are three maps attached.

- Current high school zones for 2024-2025
- Approved high schools zones for 2025-2026
- Proposed adjustments to high school zones for 2025-2026 (including shaded dual zone)

Last night's school board meeting was absolutely disgraceful!

The books that the Rutherford County School Board are voting on have no place in public schools. Any Board members that vote to keep the are Cowards and groomers. There I said it.
