Congratulations to our long awaited February Brother of the Month #141 Anish “Nøcturne” Shivarajan! Anish has been working tirelessly as our new chapter president and has been doing an amazing job re-organizing our chapter! Forty-three years ago today, 19 dedicated men founded Lambda Phi Epsilon International
Fraternity Inc. at the University of California Los Angeles, creating a brotherhood that has paved
the way for countless leaders to discover their true selves and achieve personal growth. Every
day, we strive to embrace these five core values to become leaders.

“To me, courageous leadership is a test of perseverance and resilience. Each day, we face
challenges for which we do not always have the answers. It takes courage to confront these
challenges head-on and resilience to pick ourselves back up when we stumble.
As a leader and president of my chapter, the challenges I encounter only increase in difficulty
and responsibility. It took me some time to realize that not having the answer to every problem
does not determine my worth as a leader or my qualifications. Instead, I learned that working
with my members to solve challenges on the ground is the most crucial way for me to lead my
chapter. Ensuring everyone in my chapter feels seen and heard is a key aspect of my
leadership.
My position isn’t just a title; I am responsible for setting a good example for my team, whether by
taking accountability for my own actions or striving for the best for everyone. I believe in leading
from the back and offering support when needed. I don’t need to micromanage or do anyone’s
work for them because I know my team is FULL of potential and capable individuals, and I
believe in all of them. Everything you have seen from us this semester is a culmination of their
hard work, planning, and initiative. I focus on making sure everything runs smoothly.”

Ideas and experiences of a people transcend the world through generations, forming a rich
tapestry of cultural heritage, wisdom, and identity that spans time and space. These collective
ideas and experiences are not confined to the present moment but are passed down through
generations, shaping the future while reflecting the lessons and achievements of the past.

“Cultural heritage is an important aspect of my life because I actively practice it almost every
day. Growing up Vietnamese-Cantonese, I was fortunate to learn about my ethnic roots through
my family and friends. My ultimate goal is to preserve these unique experiences and cultural
teachings and pass them on to future generations.”
