Haskell Indian Nations University played the University of Saint Mary (Kan.) in a doubleheader at home on April 8, 2026, losing both games. The first game went extra innings, 5-6, and the second ended in a run-rule loss, 0-8.
The first game started with Saint Mary getting a two-run lead before Haskell responded with one of its own when Chasley Robert walked to score Ariana Munoz. This would make the score 1-2, which would hold until the bottom of the third. Haskell would take the lead for the last time. Paizley Aldrich hit a double, scoring Abrianna Herrera and Abrielle Herrera before a pitching change the inning with Haskell up 3-2.
Saint Mary regained the lead in the fifth inning, 3-4, and added another run in the seventh making it 3-5. In a two-out rally, Haskell tied the game with Robert hitting a groundball to score Mariah Graves and Abrianna Herrera. Saint Mary would take a one-run lead into the bottom of the eighth inning where they’d also have a new pitcher. This new arm left Haskell scoreless, which ended the game 5-6.

Haskell Students Promoting Sustainability with Fashion | Alysah Carpenter | April 10 | Arts & Entertainment

Buying clothing can harm the environment, with fast fashion being the second-largest consumer of water and responsible for about 10% of global carbon emissions. However, fashion is a staple for all college students, wherever they might be; it is a way to help express themselves. So, where can students get clothing sustainably?

At Haskell Indian Nations University in Stadium Union, Student Aiyanna Tanuyan, American Indian Business Leaders (AIBL), and Fashion Runway Club collaborated to put on “Stylin and Sustainability,” a thrifting and fashion event held on April 3-4. There were all kinds of clothing students could choose from, from casual wear to business attire, as well as accessories and shoes. Students were also encouraged to show off their thrifted items in the fashion show to win prizes. The event aims to promote sustainability by encouraging the reuse of clothing and fostering campus collaboration.

Haskell Splits Series at Home

Haskell split a doubleheader vs Kansas Christian College on March 24, 2026, earning their second win on the year and marking their first home win on the new field. Abrianna Herrera hit the first and only home run on the new home field in the win.

The first game was a low scoring affair, with the first run coming in the bottom of the second with Thena Lee hitting a double to get Tishyla Allen in. KCC got some offense going in the top of the third scoring three runs. Haskell responded in the bottom with three runs, putting them back on top 4-3 with Paizley Aldrich scored off a Mariah Graves double, Graves scored off an Abrianna Herrera triple, and finally Abrianna Herrera scored off a dropped third strike.

Home Opener, Door Slammed

Haskell softball opened its home schedule March 21, 2026. It was a double header vs. Hesston College, and they lost both. These games were the first to be played on Haskell’s new home field.
The first pitch on the new field was thrown by Coach Tanner, the first Haskell softball coach. The game started poorly as Hesston jumped out to a 5-run lead in the first inning. Haskell responded with two of its own, and that would be the final time they scored. Haskell lost by run rule 2-10, with Grace Greenwood getting on base three times and Abrianna Herrera getting a triple.

Back Two Back, No Better Feeling Than That

Haskell women’s basketball won its second conference championship in a row with a win over Georgia Gwinnett College on March 1, 2026. Gwinnett had beaten Haskell twice earlier in the year, but Haskell made sure to win when the game actually mattered. The win guaranteed Haskell a bid to the NAIA National Tournament.

None of this could have been possible without Ona Dauphinais, who carried the load and scored 28 points. Dauphinais was the leading scorer in the previous season and had the experience needed to shine in this game. This year, she took a more secondary role behind Newcomer of the Year Ivy Fox, but that didn’t stop her from still improving last year’s totals.

“On the last Friday of every month, the city of Lawrence transforms into a massive art walk from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Starting in August 2010, Final Fridays is a community-driven event in which storefronts and businesses in Downtown Lawrence serve as temporary galleries, hosting diverse art exhibits and cultural events. Lawrence, KS, has one of the highest rates of working artists per capita in the country. Hence, the Lawrence community recognizes the value of the arts and sees this as an opportunity to bring them to the wider public.

The Bourgeois Pig, a downtown cocktail bar, contacted Haskell Indian Nations University and invited students to have an art exhibit at their bar for this month’s final Friday event. This is Haskell’s second time being invited to participate in the artfest. Their first exhibit, titled ‘Interrupting the Imaginary,’featured summer school students drawing on old Edward Curtis photographs. “

On February 26, 2026 Haskell Indian Nations University hosted a ceramic painting event for students in Tecumseh Hall, organized by the student activities and recreation department. With spring break just two weeks away, Haskell students are managing their coursework while preparing for the upcoming midterms. The university hosts events to help students relieve stress, enjoy fun activities, and take breaks from their studies. Currently, the Haskell campus offers activities to help. They are currently holding both volleyball and basketball intramurals in Tecumseh Hall and plan to introduce more events in the future.
