I typically post to Instagram (.crum) and share the post to Facebook, but yesterday, which was day 02, I only posted reels which didn’t translate to FB, so here’s a special FB only post ☺️✨.
Yesterday, I got up and went outside to sit on the porch while my dog, Arlo, ran around to do his morning exploring. I’m glad I was allowed to bring him along with me… he’s helped keep my mind at ease while being alone on these 27 acres.
After making myself breakfast and eating a peach from the local farm stand, I painted a couple of small pieces. Not storms. Just little moments of joy — light. A couple of coneflowers tucked in a (found) discarded glass bottle from the woods.
Took a break to visit Jack Pine Studio which was incredible! Only about 20 minutes from where I’m staying and it’s a massive hot shop with attached gallery and live demonstrations all day long. It was like being inside an episode of Blown Away (I finished watching season 3 on Netflix just last week!).
Whenever I get a chance to support other artists, I do, so I picked up a couple of small things from the shop there and headed back to the cabin. Desert House they call it, and took Arlo for a long romp through the woods. He’s been such a good boy this whole time. Hasn’t barked even once, explores but stays close by, comes when I call him, it’s amazing. I think he likes it out here, too.
With Arlo passed out on the floor, I took the time to paint a bit more, eat some dinner, and relax for the evening. I got so relaxed I fell asleep at 8:30 and woke up at 11:30pm 😆. I guess tonight I’ll make sure to stay up a little later so I’m not watching Netflix in the middle of the night *willing* my brain into submission so I can fall back to sleep.
Ended up getting another solid 5 hours and Arlo and I spent our first waking moments outside together again. Him exploring, me writing in my journal/sketchbook. After breakfast this AM, I hopped on a Live video on IG and shared a view of my temporary studio space here and explained all of the things I brought with me. I overpacked, purposefully, so I would have the ability to be flexible and only set in stone what I want to set in stone for the day.

Thank you all so much for your support at The 2022 Holiday Open House!

Jason Probstein will be at our 3rd Annual Glass Pumpkin Festival!
Jason will be showing off his skills with live demos for his amazing work!
Jason is a lampworker living in Asheville, North Carolina.
He works glass tubing and rod with a torch to first heat and then shape his pieces.
He uses Corning Pyrex, a strong and very durable glass. Jason received a degree in scientific glassblowing from Salem Community College and has studied Venetian glass techniques at the Penland School of Crafts.
He has performed residency glassblowing demonstrations at Walt Disney World, The Biltmore House and Gardens and in Asheville's Mountain Made Gallery.

WGK Glass Art, Inc will be at our Glass Pumpkin Festival!
Thomas is a dear artist friend of ours and we always look forward to seeing his amazing work! (My personal favorite are his little glass ghosts and spiders 🕸)
WGK was started by owner Thomas von Koch in Germany in 1982.
He started everything from scratch as a passionate lamp worker who wanted to create pieces that reflected how he felt. He soon met like minded individuals John Zinner, Sandra Jahn and Anja Stötzer.
These three started their research and began creating for the world.

We are looking for help with our Glass Pumpkin Festival, which takes place from September 23-25 (Fri-Sun). We need several people to help assist parking cars. We are also looking for several people to help check people out. The hours are from 9am-7pm each day. We also need help the day before the show setting up the parking area and the pumpkin patch.
