We are a small 500 acre ranch that features guided horseback riding on over 30 miles of trails! Cowboy Cookout Rides are featured, and we love having groups out!

Spotted Horse Ranch first opened it's barn doors in 2000, after almost 5 years of moving livestock, clearing land and clearing trails, building barns, campgrounds and our home. There is sorrow enough in the natural way
From men and women to fill our day;
And when we are certain of sorrow in store,
Why do we always arrange for more?
Brothers and Sisters, I bid you beware
Of giving your heart to a dog to tear.
Buy a pup and your money will buy
Love unflinching that cannot lie—
Perfect passion and worship fed
By a kick in the ribs or a pat on the head.
Nevertheless it is hardly fair
To risk your heart for a dog to tear.
When the fourteen years which Nature permits
Are closing in asthma, or tumour, or fits,
And the vet’s unspoken prescription runs
To lethal chambers or loaded guns,
Then you will find—it’s your own affair—
But… you’ve given your heart to a dog to tear.
When the body that lived at your single will,
With its whimper of welcome, is stilled (how still!).
When the spirit that answered your every mood
Is gone—wherever it goes—for good,
You will discover how much you care,
And will give your heart to a dog to tear.
We’ve sorrow enough in the natural way,
When it comes to burying Christian clay.
Our loves are not given, but only lent,
At compound interest of cent per cent.
Though it is not always the case, I believe,
That the longer we’ve kept ’em, the more do we grieve:
For, when debts are payable, right or wrong,
A short-time loan is as bad as a long—
So why in—Heaven (before we are there)
Should we give our hearts to a dog to tear?

Amazing private ride
We booked a 2 hour private ride. Joey took us on a beautiful exhilarating ride. One of the best rides we’ve ever been on. The property was beautiful and well take care of. All the animals seemed well taken care of. Rhonda was great organizing trip. The bathrooms were extremely clean and air conditioned. We’ll be back.

This place has authentic trail riding. We requested our favorite horses when we booked a private ride.
Last time we came we rode with another group and it was fun, too, but I liked having just the 2 of us and our guide.
Our guide even took us off trail to explore & there were streams for the horses to drink from.
Next time we come to ride, we are going to do the cowboy cookout because it smelled amazing as we rode by the group that had their horses relaxing while
they were eating

My friend and I visited on April 2, 2022, in honor of her 60th birthday. We were very impressed with how well the animals are treated, and that was a huge plus in my opinion. When I called to make the appointment, I spoke with Ellie and asked whether they did anything special for birthdays. They didn't have anything special to offer, but Ellie offered to make my friend a "Junior Cowgirl" certificate for her birthday. She loves it!
Joey was our guide for the trail ride. We decided on a private tour for just the two of us, plus Joey. Joey was amazing. She talked to us and explained everything. She did a great job of providing tips for us as we were riding. I managed to slip off my horse, and Joey had to help me get back on. She was amazing. Without her, I could not have managed.
Make sure you check out the gift shop area. The shirts are wonderful souvenirs.
And, be sure to tip your wrangler. They work extremely hard. Joey kept us and the horses safe and managed to lead us through a wonderful trail. It was a truly amazing experience.
The only suggestion I have would be for the wranglers to take a moment to introduce each person to his/her horse. Let us get to know the horses (and let them get to know us) before the ride begins.
I had a truly wonderful adventure at The Spotted Horse Ranch and hope to visit again soon

Some of us that live here are sometimes late due to: our flock of Turkeys standing in the middle of the drive; a bunch of Chickens standing in the drive; having to stop and pet the dogs; sheep running amuck, confused as to how they got out; a sneaky cow or 5 walking up and down the fenceline; and occasionally, a herd of Water Buffalo standing wherever the heck they want to.... ;)
