Sometimes its not until you have left you realize the blinders you put on to justify if a job is worth it. Pay, scheduling, commute. Today I went through the screenshots photo album to clear up some library space. As I scrolled through it its amazing how many screenshots I took of Slack conversations and Tekmetric ROs just to make sure I wasn’t at fault for changing initial RO concerns and complaints and information. Along with that the multitude of round about ways to do things all to compensate for the lack of management skills and forgetfulness. Which leads me to say this….It doesn’t really matter sometimes how much training you have, how right you are, how much effort you put in to be the best employee you can me. All that matters is how socially in you are and who has known each other the longest. “We treat employees like family” is the phrase no technician should ever believe until they are there for more than a few years and has seen the shop evolve.

What's the first step to offering ADAS calibration at your shop? By reading this post, you just took it: Moving from hearing about ADAS to actively learning about ADAS. 🎉

The good news is that it’s a sensible, logical process. Do your due diligence — research websites, attend a trade show, engage knowledgeable sources, invite on-site consultations and demos — and then carefully but confidently commit to the path that fits where your business is today. 💪

Here’s the key mindset: Recognize that calibrations require a process change. “We’ll figure it out as we go” is not a process. There’s no substitute for an intentionally designed, key-to-key workflow where everyone involved understands their role and why that role exists. ADAS is truly a team sport. The choreography needs to be scripted. ❗

Viewed from the outside, the technical sophistication and confusion over procedures can make calibrations seem daunting. With a thoroughly systematic approach, they won’t be. 🤩

Little over 2 weeks ago I decided to make a move and find another home. I will be venturing into mobile ADAS calibrations with local company here in Maryland (the physical location is mainly home base and for more controlled environments for some vehicles. I could go on and on why I left, but I am sure if you are in this industry you have heard it all before. If you want to know feel free to reach out.
