He needs to build a one-way blast door in his gut to keep the explosive mixture from shooting backwards and killing him. And he has to convince evolutionists that this is all accidental and involves no design! This latter one is the easiest task, as they want to believe! They have faith in St. Darwin!

Today we went to Pastor Artur Pold’s house after the service. (He is on the right with Mike Wetzel praying for him.) He planted this church which is Russian-speaking. Therefore I was surprised to find that he himself is not of Russian descent, but Estonian. He told me that his family has suffered a lot from Russia. In 1940, when Estonia was invaded and conquered by Russia, his grandfather was killed. His widow (Artur’s grandmother) was sent to Siberia with Artur’s mother (who was only 3 at the time). When they were finally allowed to return to Estonia, she could barely speak Estonian. When Artur was growing up, kids went either to Estonian or Russian schools. The area he grew up in was Russian (90 percent). After school the Russian kids would go to his school and beat up the Estonian kids just for sport. So you can imagine how ironic that after he got saved in 1991, he ended up starting a church for Russians! Only God could make that possible. It reminds me of the story of Jonah, who was sent to the Ninevites, who had conquered Israel. This history of suffering from Russia is one reason the Estonians so strongly support Ukraine in its fight for independence. They have taken in so many refugees that 4 percent of its population is now Ukrainian.

Wow! Wonderful day here in Estonia. We saw 21 people accept Christ (sincerely, with contact info) in the park. I was really amazed at the sincere hearts we kept meeting, young and old. Our team was Director of Shepherd's Purse Michael Wetzel , Ukrainian interpreter Liza Avilova, Estonian evangelist Joanna Volkova and other Estonians from her Russian-speaking church. Almost a third of Estonians are Russian or Ukrainian speaking. We are here primarily to minister to Ukrainians but took this day from our schedule just to share the gospel. Been reading the #1 NYT bestseller "Grant" by Ron Chernow. Amazing. It struck me today, that just as General Grant exploited the weaknesses of opposing generals, Ukraine seems to know that Putin cannot admit defeat and must doggedly continue his attack in the Donbas. Meanwhile Ukrainian soldiers have occupied 390 square miles of Russian territory in less than a week. Gen. Syrskyi and Zelensky know from previous short incursions into Russia that Putin has stripped his border defenses in order to send more invaders into Ukraine. Putin's stubbornness is his weakness.

There is a lot of disinformation about Ukraine. Here are hard numbers: 1) Europe has given more total aid to Ukraine than the USA: Europe gave about $205 billion to Ukraine (military, financial and humanitarian), compared to about $108 billion from the US. according to the Kiel Institute. (Since 2022). However, the US led Europe on MILITARY aid that had actually been allocated, giving $56.4 billion to compared to Europe's $56.3 billion.

Years ago my missionary colleague Charlie Songe was arrested in Saransk, Russia, because his interpreter had changed dollars into rubles at an unauthorized kiosk on a day when the bank was closed. The FSB (KGB) arranged news broadcasts about the terrible American who broke Russian law. Of course many Russians used the same kiosk but they were not arrested. They confiscated the church computer, and used it to contact all members of the church warning them they were in a dangerous cult. The church got kicked out the place they were renting and the few remaining members met in an old log house. Charlie sent his wife and kids back to America as he awaited his trial. At that time I was pastoring in nearby Ulyanovsk. We set aside 10 percent of our tithes for missions. I suggested we bring that money to Charlie's church and do a Saturday and Sunday morning service for them. So I and a team of about five of us took the 5 hour bus ride over there. Our time with them was so anointed. God was present. They were encouraged and we were too. For the first time we felt like a successful church as we were helping another church instead of thinking only about our problems. That was a turning point for the church. Charlie was convicted and had to leave Russia. He and his wife then became missionaries to Mexico, where they sitll are, doing a great job.
