With the passage of House Bills 5815-5818, these bills would reform the oversight process of the legislature over the department rulemaking process, which has let unelected bureaucrats run rampant issuing rules with the force of law. Under this package, departments would have to undergo scrutinization from a legislative committee in order for their rules to go into effect. The package also brings back independent judicial review in cases where a department rule is challenged.

The package moves on to the Senate for further consideration.

This past Friday I attended the grand opening of The Back Nine in Shelby Township. Thank you for having me, and best of luck to the new business! It will be a staple in our community.

Mental health is often a quiet battle, PTSD being no exception. It is incumbent upon us not simply to assign a month to recognizing the problem, but to act and protect those who are struggling.

By definition, the pop-up tax is just one of the MANY things keeping families from thriving in Michigan. It's not fair, and I'm working to reverse it.

This Memorial Day, we honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice and courage will never be forgotten. Today we take time to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy because of their dedication.
