Candle or wax melt? Which is your preference?

This time of year I tend to switch to wax melts. And I think I do this because I'm up moving around more when I'm home and don't like to leave a candle burning unsupervised.

Not every scent I blend is a keeper. This one is definitely not. And I’m stuck burning it anyway because I’m also testing a new wick in a different soy wax.

Y’all… I tried to blend a “Summer Kitchen Garden” smell.

It smells like cat p*e.

Not even kidding. 🤦🏼‍♀️

I did a photo shoot this weekend to show off which candles layer well with After the Rain.

First, I can’t believe I managed to get the shots I needed without any of the cats helping me. Usually as soon as I stand up and move they are up investigating what I’m doing.

Second, this plaid cutting board makes such a good photo stage. Can you believe it’s one of Toby’s “rejected from inventory” pieces? I’m such a lucky girl. ❤️

After the Rain layers beautifully with so many scents…

🌲 Appalachian Air – fresh + woodsy
☕ Fresh Brewed Coffee – fresh + cozy
🍋 Lemon Custard – bright + clean
🌿 Lavender Twilight – calm + soft

Which one would you try first? 🤍

After the Rain is here 🌧️

This one is a blend I’ve been especially excited about — it brings together two very different scent worlds in a way that just works.

You get that fresh, clean feeling of rain in the air — watery notes, soft ozone, a hint of lemon — layered with something warmer and more grounded. Think cedarwood, gentle spice, a touch of honey, and that quiet depth you notice when stepping outside after it rains.

This was a small batch pour, so quantities are limited — but it’s on the site now if you want to experience it 🤍

Yesterday’s pour 🤍

Not labeled yet. Wicks still need trimming.
A few aren’t perfectly centered… and I’m okay with that.

Because what matters most is already there —
the scent.

Lavender Twilight, Piñon Campfire, Clothesline Breeze, Lemon Custard
… and this whole batch smells incredible.

Small batch means real hands, real moments, and a little bit of imperfection in every jar — just the way a farmhouse should feel.

It’s been a minute since I made candles and I really needed to make some piñon candles to restock my shop.

I decided while I was at it I would make more Lemon Custard, Lavender Twilight and Clothesline Breeze. And Mason decided to help me.

Should we take bets on how long his paw stays yellow? I was almost done when he decided to help me. 🤣🤣🤣

Shipping out in today’s customer order:
1 piñon campfire candle (most popular)
1 citrus & herbs (new in 2026)
1 lavender twilight ( personal favorite)

It makes me happy that these three moody candles are off to help someone set the tone of their days.

Where do you typically set your candles when you light them? I gravitate toward the stove because it is a heat-resistant flat spot. I feel a little better about going about my weekend chores with it placed there. It seems less likely my cats will knock it over there 🤣

Tonight was the last push for prepping our small business taxes. Mascot Frank seems bewildered by the amount of paper going through the printer.

I know, buddy. I know.
