Back-to-school season hits different when you’re broke.
There are so many factors that contribute to being “The Struggling Family” weather you’re a single parent, shopping for more than one kid, trying to keep them in style so they don’t get bullied, or dealing with private school uniforms that cost more than Louisiana Home Insurance — it’s not just shopping, it’s survival.

Your friends and family don’t see the late nights of praying for a miracle, searching for back to school drives, joining second hand uniform groups to find deals, asking for help anonymously so you don’t feel ashamed, comparing prices, the guilt of saying “not this year,” or the way you stretch one paycheck to provide not only their needs but their wants. No one cares how hard you work to make your kids feel “normal” because we are all working for the same thing. We want the best so they are confident and to prevent bullying. Prepairdness will take your child far this school year.

You’re not worthless. You’re not failing. You’re making miracles happen — and you deserve way more recognition for supplying the best❤️

I have a total of two writings done! My first assignment as a writer is ready for submission.
This is all so new to me; I truly missed writing and expressing myself. Can’t wait to share the long-winded version of me I hide from the world, with others. My mission is to write about those topics no one wants to address, but everyone is interested in exploring. Goodnight!

My writing aims to inspire the alternative mom. My niche is the mom who lives outside the box. As we grow older, we may grow wiser, but we still need advice, direction, and to feel we still belong to the best hood. Motherhood looks different for all families, and I write for the mom seeking her tribe as she ages. I advocate for the mom wondering if she's good enough, the recently divorced mom, the mom seeking alternative health care for her little one, the empty nester, the mom struggling with depression while mothering, the mom raising biracial children, the step mom, the empty nesting mom, the strong black mom, the mom battling addiction, the mom without custody, the struggling mom, the single mom, and all the moms who take the path less traveled. I write to silence that voice in your mind and soothe your soul.
