Su***de Tea?
Instead of mixing up a bunch of fountain sodas like we did when we were younger and calling it su***de soda…I decided to do the same principle with tea. Why not?
There are 14 different leaves/roots/flowers/berries in this tea. Click on the photo and zoom in if you are interested in this combo.
Teas have a lot of medicinal properties to them. A blend of multiple teas will obviously have even more. Might taste a little strong, but think of that as strong taste = strong human.
Su***de tea will have plenty of beneficial:
Polyphenols
Prebiotics
Vitamins
Minerals
Flavonoids
Tannins
What better way to start your day than to saturate your cells with nutrients.
Natural Grocers has a good variety of organic teas for a pretty good price.
Be honest, did you drink su***de soda at the restaurants you went to growing up? What was your favorite combo?
Hopefully this convinces you to swap the soda for the tea in the future. 🙂
Individually many of these have been studied for toxicity and may have been called GRAS (generally regarded as safe). But what happens when you combine them all and do a 20 year study. Are they still “safe”.
I am not waiting for that study because it will never happen. I will do my best to avoid these toxins, because eventually our toxin bucket will run over.
Let us know if you want us to help with:
Testing toxins
Avoiding toxins
Binding toxins
Converting toxins to inert substances
Improving liver health to deal with unavoidable toxins.

Heated plastics can leach into your food. Even if it says it is BPA free, that doesn’t mean it is safe to use for cooking.
We have enough microplastics and endocrine disrupting chemicals in our environment.
If you can’t cook a turkey that isn’t dry, then eat prime rib for Thanksgiving this year instead. 🙂.
Raw milk. Why aren’t we allowed to purchase it? Sure there is a small chance you will get E. Coli. That chance is 7 in 100,000.
You are allowed to eat a Tw***ie and drink a gallon of soda. We know that is not healthy and carries a risk.
We are allowed to drive on the interstate. That carries a risk.
We are allowed to bungee jump. Pretty risky.
Anyone know why our government doesn’t allow us to purchase raw milk for human consumption?
Katelyn made carrot juice, so we decided to make a carrot cake out of the remaining pulp.
It has:
Organic carrots
Eggs
Coconut oil
Grass fed ghee
Chia seeds
Cinnamon
Nutmeg
GF flour
Allulose
Dates in the middle that I will cover.
This will be a dessert that has plenty of fiber and nutrients and is sweetened with Allulose and dates so it won’t spike our blood sugar as much.
Do you have blood work in the “normal” range according to your doctor, but you still feel like something is wrong?
If you have thyroid concerns, has your doctor told you that your TSH is normal and therefore your thyroid is fine? You aren’t going crazy, It still may not be fine!
There may be a couple of things you can do if this is the case for you, yet you still are experiencing symptoms of low thyroid function (like fatigue/low energy, slow metabolism, weight gain, cold hands and feet, hair loss or thinning, achy joints).
1. Complete a Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis with us. High Calcium to Potassium ratio can prevent your thyroid hormone from entering the cell. Mineral balancing to lower tissue calcium and/or increase potassium would help get the thyroid hormone where it needs to go (in the cell). This is just one example of what the HTMA could show. Calcium in the tissues (like the hair) means calcium is being leached out of your bones (where it should be) and into your soft tissues like your joints, arteries, and hair (where it shouldn’t be). This is not good! It can interfere with your metabolism, heart health, arterial health, and joint and muscle health!
2. Full thyroid panel that also includes Free T4, Free T3, Reverse T3, and TPO and TGA antibodies to test for autoimmune thyroid. These are often not tested if you ask for a thyroid panel. Make sure to specify that you want all of these included in your thyroid panel! You want to to get the full picture of how much your thyroid is producing, how much is being converted in the liver from T4 to T3 and how much of that T3 is the usable form or is it converted to reverse T3 (which is not usable to your cells). Any elevation in antibodies indicates some autoimmune dysfunction and means your body is starting to attack your thyroid. Changes in your diet and lifestyle need to be made to prevent further damage.
3. Make sure you compare your results to “functional” (optimal) ranges and not “average” ranges. The Average range considers both healthy and sick people. Functional ranges don’t include calculations of sick individuals.
Read what Dr. Rick Malter has to say about HTMA tests in his practice
Did you know we offer more than nutrition education/plans?
We offer functional lab testing! These tests can find out any mineral imbalances/heavy metals, stress/ adrenal function, hormone imbalances, gut imbalances, dysbiosis/parasites, liver/gall bladder, digestion and more!
During your consult, we will determine what your goals and health concerns are and we will recommend which test(s) would help to individualize a plan for you! Having this information will guide us on our protocol for you so you aren’t left guessing!
So, if you are experiencing health concerns like fatigue, difficulty sleeping, anxiety/depression, skin issues, gas/bloating, constipation or loose stools, weight gain, achy joints or hair loss, we may be able to help!
The body is all connected, an issue with one organ will affect another organ and then the entire organ system will be affected. Symptoms are your sign that something is imbalmaced in your body. We aren’t here to mask your symptom, but rather balance your body so it can run efficient and effectively again.
Something that is not talked about enough…..indoor air quality, especially if you have an autoimmune condition or respiratory issues such as asthma.
Do you think about the quality of the air in your house? Do you do anything to make it better?

Pharmaceutical ads have always been annoying to me, but if they are in the pockets of news stations that is both annoying and concerning.
Is there anything in this world that hasn’t been corrupted by greed and money yet?
What is the difference between your homemade eggs cooked over easy with fried potatoes from your favorite cafe’s eggs cooked over easy with fried potatoes?
Quite a bit, actually!
If you folllow the Teager Nutrition Plan, you will only be cooking with quality low inflammatory fats like tallow, grass-fed butter, olive oil, or coconut oil. So, those fried over easy eggs and fried potatoes will be full of beneficial healthy fat that won’t increase inflammation or destroy your mitochondria, like industrial seed oils do (canola, cottenseed, corn, soybean, sunflower, safflower, rice, and peanut oil). This change alone is a game changer on our metabolism and our health.
Next, if you are cooking at home and buying organic produce and pasture raised chicken eggs, your food will, most likely, be much higher in vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients than the food found at most cafes. At local, fancier restaurants, you may find chefs opting for locally grown and raised food and that would be a bonus, but most places do not do this. They opt for the most affordable and less nutritious options.
Non-organic Fruits and vegetables will be providing your body with pesticides, herbicides, fungicides that destroy our microbiome, destroy our mitochondria, and negatively affect our immune system.
Do yourself a favor and opt in on a homemade organic breakfast!
The foundations are essential to optimal health. All the supplements in the world cannot give you the gift of optimal health, without first, implementing the foundations consistently.
Among the foundational pillars of health are:
Sunshine 🌞, nature 🍂 and movement 🚶♀️
Get outside today for a walk, bike ride, run, paddle, or yoga! Move your body!
We usually tell our clients that a good rule of thumb is to try to achieve 10,000 steps a day, if you have a device to track your steps. Since every client we treat as an individual, this can change from client to client, but in general get outside in the morning to get sun exposure and walk and then again in the evening for a walk after dinner.
So many things happen when we walk outside:
-morning sun can help balance our circadian rhythm which regulates our sleep
-walking in nature helps calm our nervous system, allows the body to rest and recover, lowers cortisol levels (stress response hormone)
-walking after a meal will help lower blood glucose levels by bringing the glucose into the muscle tissues instead of staying in the blood or being converted to fat in the liver.
Walking, sunshine, nature all have an accumulatory positive effect on our health impacting, hormones, sleep, metabolism, stress and weight.
Do yourself a favor and make this a priority in your daily life!
You know fiber and prebiotics are important for gut health, but do you think about switching them up each day to diversify the beneficial microbes in your gut?
No?!!
You should.
It’s not just about the NUMBER of beneficial bacteria in your large intestine it is also about the DIVERSITY of them that leads to positive health outcomes.
Diversity of your diet (specifically fiber and polyphenols) is how you improve the quantity of different species of bacteria in your gut.
Here are just some examples of different fibers and prebiotics that you can add each day to help with that diversity:
Beta-glucans
Pectin
Resistant Starch
Retrograde Resistant Starch
Inulin
Soluble fiber
Insoluble fiber
Polyphenols

Vote with your dollar and stop buying ultra processed foods. Instead buy organic whole nutrient dense food (meat, fruit and veggies) and encourage others to do the same.
Nature gives us so many nutrients to keep our body healthy and to heal our body when needed. We need to consistently listen to our body and give our body what it needs to thrive!
There are the basics that we all need like sunlight, whole real food from the earth, movement, and quality sleep and there are also biochemical individuality that is unique for each of us and unique for the level of stress that we currently have. If you are interested in some guidance on what your body needs to heal and to feel it’s best, reach out to us! We are happy to help!
Breakfast for me this morning:
-3 eggs cooked in olive oil
-1 cup wild blueberries
- 1/2c organic Greek yogurt
- 1 cup fresh juiced organic carrot juice
I also had 2 cups celery juice 30 minutes before this.
After completing my HTMA test, I found out my body was taking calcium out of my bones and depositing it into my soft tissues (joints, muscles, hair) this happens when the body is under a lot of stress (chemical, emotional or physical). I also found out I was in major need of sodium and potassium. Vitamin A, K, magnesium, iodine can all help lower my tissue calcium and I needed more potassium to help get my thyroid hormone into my cells. This is only a small portion of what I learned from my HTMA test. This test has been eye opening and I have been able to implement changes in my diet, supplementation, and exercise that have made a huge difference in how I feel.
The health food section should just be
whole foods.
The rest of the store should be called “food like substances”.
Nutrient dense, whole food IS medicine
Ultra processed food REQUIRES medicine
Over the last year we have been learning and implementing HTMA testing into our practice. When my results came back with depleted potassium levels, I decided to make some changes in my diet to increase potassium rich foods.
Carrot juice has been a staple for me over the last couple of months and I have really started enjoying it.
Today, Bryce picked some fresh apples and brought home a bag full so we decided to make fresh apple/carrot juice.
Potassium (K) needs to be balanced with Sodium (Na) for optimal adrenal function. The adrenals play a huge role in our endocrine system and are important for cortisol production, adrenaline, norepinephrine, and even some progesterone and estradiol (this is where a woman’s s*x hormones come from after menapause). It is vital for energy function and metabolism for the Na/K to be at good levels and balanced. This ratio is also called the “vitality ratio” in a HTMA test.
Potassium also needs to be balanced with Calcium (Ca) for optimal thyroid function. Without adequate levels of potassium (or possibly too high of tissue calcium levels) thyroid hormone will have a very difficult time entering the cells and therefore will not work. The Ca/K ratio is called the “thyroid ratio”
Potassium rich foods= coconut water, potatoes, carrots, bananas, watermelon, avocados.
