This is NOT my favorite pic of the day. ðĨī
Went to whack weeds and the gate fell off when I tried to open it. Dang nabbit. This is the fence that separates the Chihuahua yard from the big dog and puppy yard. ðŦĪ
Thankfully, a few heavy duty zip ties are holding it back in place and the contractor will be out this week to fix it. Got the weeds whacked and hopefully the zip ties hold! ð

I guess I should've saved this for Tongue-Out-Tuesday but I'm terrible at waiting. ð
Grace and Maya have become fast friends! They both have fun, sassy personalities ðĪŠ
Grace is available for adoption and Maya is hanging with us while a northern rescue finds a foster in their area to get her out of Texas. ð
If you'd like information on adopting our sweet and smart girl Grace, message us at Happy Tails Ranch Rescue. We'd love to set up a meet n greet! ðĄ

Children tried to drown this puppy in a creek. And now you know why not all dogs like children. Can't say I like them all either. ð

Anyone looking for a great companion? Brownie needs a foster but we imagine that could turn into a foster-to-adopt situation! Give this boy a chance to steal your heart. Message Final Frontier Rescue Project if you can help! ð
Update 1:52 PM. Still no applications. ðĒ
Update 10:52 AM. Six hours left. Still no applications.
Down to the wire. Again. We have 8 hours to get an application, screen and approve a foster, and get Brownie moved to a new home.
Brownie is almost one year old, about 40 pounds, timid but warms up quickly, and has been good with the teenaged kid and friends in his temporary foster home and with the two female dogs he's met. We don't know about male dogs, and we're told he should not be placed with cats. He's currently in north Austin, TX.
8 hours left to find him a new home.
Every rescue and shelter knows this feeling. Some deal with it by giving deadlines and killing. Others only take in dogs if they have a "plan" and we put plan in quotes because plans fall through and you may think you have the most reliable foster, solid plan, etc etc, but then there's a car accident, death in the family, endless variety of reasons that a dog needs a new foster. And over time it wears you down.
So here we are, with 8 hours till Brownie needs to be in a new home. Will someone come through for him?

My favorite pic of the day! ð
Seeing Patience running joyfully around the yard, making new friends is the best feeling. She'll never know how close she was to being euthanized but being able to give her a full life is exactly what rescues are for.
All 5 of the dogs in this picture were found in the streets, left to die or were stuck in a shelter with no interest. Unfortunately, people everywhere are dumping thousands of happy, healthy puppies and dogs. Very few pets who aren't "perfect" get a chance.
If everyone pitched in to support low cost or free spay/neuter in their communities, pushed for better programs in their shelters, if leaders educated their communities, and people were realistic about pet ownership and the responsibility, so many more lives could be saved.
