With the support of Chris Mulholland (Post 2894) and many others, I completed a book entitled *The Long Journey home: The Untold Story of Forgotten Soldiers. *The* *book, which took me 6.5 years to write, was based on a 2014 AP class project that changed the lives of my students. It is the story of how a diverse group of post-millenials rediscovered their local history and had a better understanding of the cost of war. They went beyond the learning objectives and developed relationships with Gold Star families that changed their lives. Reading these student tributes will bless your members. Here is the link:

Charlotte County VFW POST 8902 will be collecting items for the folks in Kentucky who lost most everything due to a tornado. Gleening For The Workd will deliver these items.
Collection date will be December 23 beginning at 10 AM To 5 PM in Drakes Branch at the new fire station.
Items needed are "personal affects items" i.e. tooth paste,tooth brushes,toiletry items, adult diapers, etc.
No food items are needed at this time, but non perishable canned items are ok.
Your support will be greatly appreciated.

Cost is $8.00 qt. Prices on everything has more than doubled, this year.
This is a fund raiser for our VFW Post. your support will be greatly appreciated. Contact me at 434-568-6451 for orders. Kerwin already has orders for 100 quarts as of last week. His stew sells fast.

4th District quarterly meeting this morning in Victoria
We will do a trash pickup Sat Sept 19th beginning at 1000 hrs.
It is with great sadness that I report that our Post Commander Elbert Thomas ,"BJ" passed away this past Saturday. No arrangements that I know about.
Kudos to those members of Charlotte County VFW Post 8902 for the trash pick up.....20 bags of trash on Rt 47 Tollhouse Rd/Vietnam Veterans Highway. A 2 mile stretch.
We ran out of bags and still some more trash to be picked up. Those 5 (one was a family member) of us all had the same comment, "Man I'm worn out after all this.'
We're just a bunch of Veterans trying to make a difference in our county .
Trash pick up Saturday Feb 1st beginning at 1000.
This Saturday Post 8902 will be doing a fund raiser at the Holiday Festival in Drakes Branch at the Pavilion.
Please support our Veterans by attending.

A great thank you to "Heavy Duty " and crew for volunteering many hours of their time for us,we really appreciate your contribution . I don't know if he's on FB, but thanks again.
