Like most four olds, I had trouble sleeping on Christmas Eve. Mama entered the room, and began reading to me. Suddenly I heard a noise in the adjoining living room! I jumped out of bed and ran toward the door as Mama shouted for me to come back to bed. Instead, I looked through the door’s keyhole. Seeing toys under the tree, I yelled, “Santa has come!” Mama told me to come back to bed. I obeyed, and she continued reading. In a moment Dad came into the room. He wasn’t happy! He said, “Santa just came into the store and told me you tried to see him!” I began asking Dad questions about Santa. Was he wearing a red suit? Did Dad see the reindeer? Was Rudolph there? Dad wasn’t happy with my questions! He said that if I wanted Santa to finish leaving my toys I had to go to sleep and wait until morning! I jumped back into bed and soon fell asleep. I smile at the questions I still have about Santa! What does he mean? How do I pass on to children of all ages the joy and wonder Santa brings?
