Hey, stranger! I'm Tidewater Teddy. I run, walk, crawl, and swim around with a camera, photographing critters just for you!

The Holocene Epoch has so many fascinating creatures, even if carnosaurs and mammoths are dead.

Alligator Populations: America vs China 01/18/2025

Alligators are only native to 3 countries around the world, but America is home to the biggest population. There’s also a few in a tiny piece of northeastern Mexico. Interestingly, there are also wild alligators in China. But how many gators are in the US and China?

Generative AI is sending traditional stock photography into a death spiral, and it's becoming even more of a race to the bottom.

Scuba Diving in Nasty, Polluted Water 01/04/2025

Not my wisest endeavor...

Scuba Diving in Nasty, Polluted Water Deep, murky water. That’s something that instills fear in a lot of people. Normal, sane people stay far, far away from the gloomy depths. Not my younger self. You see, for a year or so, I had…

Happy New Year!

Here’s another photo I took while diving in the Keys. This is a green sea turtle. I’ve seen more green sea turtles around the world than any other species.

Relaxing Underwater Footage from Florida Keys 12/31/2024

I specifically wanted to make a longer video with peaceful underwater footage showing the beautiful coral reefs and the colorful fish and other sea animals. Enjoy this hour long video I made using my original footage and the calming & relaxing music of several talented artists!

Merry Christmas!! 🎄🎁 I took this picture of Mt. Kirkjufell in Iceland back in January 2017. It looks like a daytime shot, but it’s actually a long exposure shot at night.

Tying a Bowline with One Hand 12/19/2024

As a Captain and a Divemaster, I’ve had to study the bowline knot with almost religious fervor. Thus, it’s the primary knot I know and remember, and perhaps, the only knot I can tie one handed. Back in 2019, I filmed myself tying a bowline with one hand. You can watch it here:
