So who was Alexander Girard?
Though his name may not ring a bell, Girard worked at Herman Miller (1952-1975). He collaborated with George Nelson and Ray & Charles Eames creating the fabrics for their furniture designs. Among his many creative achievements was the iconic NYC restaurant "La Fonda del Sol" in 1960 for which he designed every aspect.
(I had my 7th birthday party there and still remember how cool it was!)
