Thanks to Fig Kennett for another awesome piece! We have an incredible team of clinicians and mediators ready to help. It may sound strange but there is a way to make family change AND reduce the impact of the stress and trauma that comes with that loss.

Good Morning

A good focus for today is self-care. We should develop our self-care strategies everyday of our lives. However, Sunday can be a great day to reflect on, recalibrate and think about how we can take special care today and what we might do to keep ourselves healthy in the week ahead. Take care of you!
I want to offer a fabulous therapy to anyone that has a day that they just can’t get out of their mind. I have an EMDR protocol that works. It should only require one visit. This is offered free of charge to all health care workers, first responders, etc. message me for details. Suzie Ashmead, LPC, Ashmead EMDR and Counseling.

The Center for Change at Kennett Square is a trauma-informed integrated health and wellness center offering counseling, nutrition/dietician services, mind-body healing, and mediation services for individual, couples, and families undergoing change.

We have an office faerie! Such a sweet little card with an important reminder. The person we are now is taking care of the person we someday will be. And THIS is a mind-twist, but you here in the present are taking with you, and hopefully care of, your past selves. This means practicing forgiveness and knowing you did your best, despite the outcome(s).

Enjoy the day!

We had a special visitor this weekend 🤩 Reed!… standing next to his grandfather’s painting : ) he came to help do some needed odds and ends.

“Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer’s hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable.”

The healing process is a weird one.

It’s one that a lot of people want. But they’re not sure sure how to “get” there.

First rule of thumb is that there isn’t a getting anywhere. It’s more an evaluative process of learning about your path (what obstacles or traumas you’ll likely face), and then what gear you need for the journey (what helpers, techniques etc).

The pleasure part is the strange twist. The journey tends to feel a bit worse before it starts to feel rewarding.

But there IS pleasure in it. In the pathlessness. Otherwise we wouldn’t be here doing what we do ♥️

The world has a funny way of making it feel kind of weird to look at what’s really going on inside. What it tells us about friendships and relationships. What has value, what doesn’t.

The pathless part can feel scary if you are for the first time learning the truth of who you are. Not pretending. Striving. Shoving your ego into all the wrong places.

But once you realize that YOU are the one who gets to decide what you truly need, truly want, you’re no longer a beggar with a cup asking ANYone else to fill it.

You come to learn that it’s been full the whole time. And that the path was always there all along.

Here’s to that!

Sure does! But sometimes feeling good isn’t what we have been taught- or isn’t comprised of the ingredients we’ve been bought and sold to believe will bring us joy. We hear things like “I’m surrounded by people, but feel unseen, despite my popularity.” Or things like “I have this checklist of accomplishments, but I don’t feel fulfilled.” Or with others it’s “I’m going going going gaining gaining gaining, but I don’t feel like I’m in the right place/right company/right vibe.”

It’s not just you, it’s a LOT of people. Feeling sometimes means less people, a different checklist, or maybe a quieter more humble stroll through life. But it’s a place where you find your peace. Your inner calm. A good feeling that actually feels good.

Imagine that ; )

Happy almost fall!

Relationships are a breeze.

😂💀🙊

Well, they CAN be in moments, for passages of time, at their base. Sure, 100%.

Relationships can also be a massive mirror.

Where do I half show up?

What am I hiding?

What do I allow that maybe hurts me? But I allow for it anyway…

This stuff isn’t simple! It’s not simple because there’s something wrong with you.

It feels not simple because WE DON’T TALK ABOUT these things.

We hear time and time again:

“I wish someone had talked to me about these concepts/tools/practices as a kid.
Sure would have made things easier. Or “I didn’t expect to feel this way, but there isn’t anyone I can open up to.”

Being vulnerable isn’t JUST about being open. It’s also about finding those that will receive us.

So before you go judging yourself ask: how much of this is me (some, yes!) and how much of this is our culture (also a yes!).

Adjust accordingly, but do so with compassion and kindness to self and others. Then you’ve got yourself a big old beautiful win-win.

Losing someone that we don’t want to lose, whether it is to death or the end of a relationship, is often a very painful experience.

to make it doubly confusing we live in a world where people tend to tell us to move on, stop thinking about it, get over it…

there are those of us who know however that that is an incredibly ineffective approach.

We are here to help. To learn more about counseling or mediation services please contact:

Welcome to The Center KSQ

We started out a group of passionate counselors, healers, and professionals. Within a short period of time and with a lot of drive and passion, The Center for Change at Kennett Square was formed. Our mission is to bring healing, change, and reconnection to our community, to destigmatize help seeking behavior, and to foster wellness and health at all levels in our local and global community. The Center KSQ’s director, Winden Rowe LPC, had a dream and a vision as a trauma-informed therapist which has now become this vision, realized. We are just getting started. There is a lot ahead at The Center KSQ. And for our community wellness.
