heart warming and moving event I have ever been associated with. None of us did for the reason "oh I'm helping a veteran, pat me on the shoulder" we did it because we wanted in some small way to show them some appreciation for what they stand for. Remember the service men and women leave behind family's, some return different people and some never return. So again, if you know a veteran a simple thank your for your service goes further than any of us can imagine. To Jimmy Blizzard, Kaleb Weakley, Kenny Weakley and Samantha Simonds--Thank you and know each of you have family in southern Virginia now!

Warrior Hunts of Virgina updated their phone number.

This weekend marked the 6th anniversary of Warrior Hunts of Virginia.
After a long two years of not being able to do our annual Mike Crowell Sring Gobbler Hunt due to Covid we were finally able to get back on track.
We brought in 2 First Responders, Rosser Wells and Devin Hall, and 2 Veterans, Tom Quicke and Barry Bevins. Ward Burton donated the Hero House in Brunswick, Va to our cause to house everyone for the hunt. We all had close encounters and Devin Hall was able to seal the deal on a stud of a spring gobbler.
I want to say a special thank you each and everyone of you that were involved to make this an absolutely great weekend.
Our guides included Brandon Martin, Jackson Queen, Edwin Foster, Doug Atkins, Bucky Daniels, Jeramiah Fix, Barry Connell and Johnny Seamster.
Our fabulous cook crew included Bob Tanner, Chris Lucy, Clayton Connell, Brent Allen and Noah Daniels.
I want to give a special thank you to all that donated and sponsored this special event—NWTF Staunton-Meherrin Chapter, Mossy Oak Properties Land and Farms Realty, Mossy Oak Properties, South Hill Home Depot, South Hill Walmart, South Hill Foodlion, Parker Oil, Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation and Ft. Pickett.
We’re looking forward to our next event.

Warrior Hunts of Virginia’s 2nd annual Spring Gobbler Hunt was a huge success!!! On the evening April 27th wounded veteran hunters arrived at the Days Inn in South Hill which was their lodging for the next 3 days. The Donut Shop supplied donuts and breakfast sandwiches to all the hunters and helpers on Friday and Saturday. Brian’s Steakhouse treated us all to lunch Friday. Bagley’s Mill Hunt Club prepared and accommodated us for dinner Friday night. The Tastee Freez (Big T) treated us to lunch on Saturday and Meherrin River Hunt Club accommodated us for our Saturday night feast. Shoppers Value in Kenbridge took care of all the meat for Friday and Saturday night’s Bar-B-Que dinner. Bob Tanner, Steve Moore, Clayton Connell, Paul Connell and Chris Simmons did the cooking on Saturday. Wilson Brother’s BBQ donated all the dinner sides and John Connell made homemade desserts. Chuck Dick with Valvline Oil donated face masks, hats and shells to the veterans for the hunt. Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative donated 2 hats and a tumbler to each hunter and Southside Friends of NRA donated each hunter a knife to each hunter. In a two day period 6 hunters killed 9 turkeys. This event was entirely possible by the Mecklenburg and Lunenburg community support.
This event is more than just a hunt, it’s therapy for the veterans.

Looking for one wounded vet in Va for a turkey hunt April 28 & 29.
Getting ready for our April Spring Gobbler Hunt! It's going to be a great time. We are bringing in 5 new hunters. Some of our hunters from our last years hunt are coming for support for our new people. The community support of this has been outstanding! It's so good to see this support.

Sorry to post this almost 2 weeks later but.........
A couple months ago we had 2 of our wounded vets from San Diego CA that came to hunt with us this past spring wanted to know if they could return to hunt with us on their dime and of course we welcomed them. Kaleb's dad was able to come in and join in too. Buck Farrar let them still hunt his farm and Meherrin River Hunt Club in South Hill took them dog hunting(they had never done that) and Michael Bailey gave them some where to still hunt as well. As an added bonus Jamie Smiley and Meherrin River Hunt Club got them in on a bear hunt Monday before they left and one was able to kill a 380 lb bear! Barry and Stacey Connell hosted supper and friends Friday night, Meherrin River Hunt Club fed us Saturday night and Brian Williams and friends hosted supper Sunday night. A great time was had by ALL! Six deer and a bear were taken over 3 days.
Apparently we made an impression on them to want to return on their dime and they surely made an impression on us!
This was a community effort by all and a sincere THANK YOU to everyone.
So take time and thank a service man or woman active for their service to this GREAT COUNTRY! A simple THANK YOU goes a long way and it doesn't cost a thing.
A day to remember and a thank you to all that have served to keep our country's freedom! Happy Veterans Day!!
Happy 4th everyone! Home of the brave land of the free! Thanks to everyone that keeps this possible!

Take a minute and remember the fallen.

Please remember the reason!

Waiting one out!!!

Amazing two days of hunting with a great group of people!!!
