Explorers Percussion restoration and repair shop
has been going strong. Thanks to our new addition of Bob Abendroth. Here are a few pictures of the first drum set we worked on together. Notice how the Sky Blue finish had been much lighter in the late 70’s compared to todays Sky Blue. The Tom’s were originally concert Tom’s and the bass drum was an 18” floor tom. Many holes were plugged and the bearing edges were restored and recut. Many thanks to Danny Rojas for giving us the pleasure of bringing these drums a new life!!

Explorers has been doing quite a few bass drum reduction jobs in the last few years. And they are usually 18” to 20” depths cut to a 14” depth The 20” to 14” being the most popular.

Straight from the press Zildjian Company new S Dark series cymbals just released. Their unique hammering and extensive lathing prduce a sound you haven’t heard from Zildjian before!

It was great a couple of days ago to visit with the legendary John JR Robinson. Who is one of the most recorded drummers of all time.
But more importantly he is also an avid Chiefs fan too!
