Am I the only one collecting these? Now if I could only read Japanese a little bit better 😅

-

I just love these old magazines and pamphlets for this time. It feels like a time machine that plunks you back in the thick of it.

Have you ever struggled with the Subaru "super bolt"? It's the bolt that goes through two lateral links and the knuckle, always known for getting stuck..

-

But on this day it popped right out. What a glorious day it was. One casualty was the stuck right rear cam bolt, the eccentric bolt needed to be replaced. But all and all a good day in my mind.

We could all use a slightly cleaner under hood area, right? Well if you still have a tmic, this one goes out to you.

-

I picked up a Jdm tmic awhile back but I wanted it to look a little fresher.. so what did I do? Bought some aluminum brightener and went to town.

-

The key steps are to tape off the opening, give it a good rinse, then apply the brightener... And if it still isn't great you can do a bit of scrubbing.

Tired of orange bulbs ruining your day? 😅😅🤣 Let's fix that with these Silver Star bulbs... That are silvery. 🙃

-

When removing some of the amber it only makes sense to go all in and that's exactly what I did. Even with the amber pieces removed the bulbs still made the section look orange.

-

But with just a simple bulb replacement we can get rid of that. But you still want to make it obvious to traffic that you are signaling. Well that's no problem as when they blink it is as amber as you expect it to be.

Well which is it? It's been about a year since I put the wing back together... And now I'm itching to put the tiny spoiler back on.

-

But what do you think? I'll let you know I've always been a huge wing guy, that's a lot of the reason I got into these cars. Watching functional rally cars get turned into street cars is peak in my opinion.

-

With that said, I do like a little variety... And a little spice.. so having a wingless trunk gives me options and helps me keep from getting bored.

Do you have a stand alone camera or is your cell phone your go to? I really enjoy my cell phone as it's quick, simple and effective

-

But when I'm able to bring out the big camera and find time to edit it, I'm in my happy place.

-

As I was flying home deleting old photos on my camera, currently sitting at 24k. I saw this and thought it was worth posting.

For those of you who might have forgotten, I still have a Forester.

-

This photo goes back 5 years ago when it was time to swap out some brakes. My front caliper had seized up and it was time to replace that caliper and the pads/rotors.

-

Maybe this car will soon find its place as I resurrect it for another series of projects. But who knows when I'll find time for that 😅

Which would you take out?

-

Nothing like working at a place with fun cars in the parking lot. Here are a handful of the more unique ones.

Were you aware that there was a Chevy Forester back in the 2000s? I have been for awhile... Kinda wish you could still find the badging, might be funny to do a conversion 😅

-

Anyways, nothing too special here but when Gm owned a large stake in Fuji Heavy industries (Subarus patent company at the time) they decided to bring this model out in India, hoping it would move some units.

-

I'm pretty sure it didn't do much but it leaves us with some fun history to look back on.

For those of you up keeping older cars, here is one area to keep an eye on. Tie rods.

-

Tie rods connect the steering rack to the knuckle. There are two of them, the one connected directly to the steering rack is referred to as the inner tie rod. And the second tie rod connects the inner tie rod to the knuckle.

-

Both of these parts contain socket joints that over time can fail. In order to keep your tires from prematurely wearing and steering tight you should be checking these for play.

-

If the joints become loose. You can feel them pop when you are inspecting the suspension.

-

Luckily Subaru uses pretty high quality parts from the factory, so these failures are quite low compared to other brands. But you still need to check on them now and again.

-

If you need the full details, stop on over at blingstrom.com and find the parts and tools you will need to complete this task.
