A watershed is "all of the land that drains water into a particular point, usually a stream, lake or river" (Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Watersheds 101). A watershed boundary divides a particular drainage basin from the one next to it. The English River watershed covers approximately 627 square miles of southeastern Iowa.
