Funds raised for Girls on the Run during the Great Fish Community Challenge will bring research-based programs that blend physical activity, life skills, and community involvement to girls in grades 3–5 across the Flathead Valley—eliminating financial barriers so every girl can thrive.

Funds raised for the Humane Society during the Great Fish Community Challenge will support a life-saving adoption program to give homeless cats and dogs a second chance at a healthy life by ensuring that all homeless pets, including newborn litters, are vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed or neutered.

Next up is Kalispell Education Foundation. The book we chose for our friends at Kalispell Education Foundation is Miss Nelson is Missing! by Harry Allard.

Funds raised for the Kalispell Education Foundation during the Great Fish Community Challenge will be used to will provide funding for exceptional learning opportunities in Kalispell Public Schools that go beyond the limitations of the standard budget. These opportunities are designed to inspire, engage, and enrich student learning.

Libraries are more than books—they’re lifelines, launchpads, and gathering places where curiosity thrives and communities grow. Flathead County Library serves over 100,000 residents, offering free programs for all ages, safe spaces for learning and connection, and reliable access to technology for job seekers, students, and seniors.

Many older adults turn to the library for tech help that is simply not accessible elsewhere. That impact was clear when an older patron came in hoping to print a chair-yoga routine from her phone. When the app wouldn’t allow it, staff helped her find a free alternative, placed holds on senior yoga books, and sent her home with one she loved. She left not only with the resources she needed, but knowing that someone was truly there to help.

Funds raised for the Gateway to Glacier Trails during the Great Fish Community Challenge will be used to will support and enhance community recreation opportunities within the Cedar Flats Trail system north of Columbia Falls, trails within the Bad Rock Canyon Wildlife Management Area, and the Gateway to Glacier Trail.

Next up is Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation. The book we chose for our friends at the Bob Marshall Wildernes Foundation is Heroes of the Bob Marshall Wilderness by John Fraley.

Funds raised for the Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation during the Great Fish Community Challenge will be used to facilitate a strong volunteer workforce on the ground across the 1.6-million-acre Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex. Each summer over 400 hardy souls join the Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation to open trails and restore habitat to conserve this crown jewel of wilderness.

First up is Habitat for Humanity of Flathead Valley. The book Hilary chose for our friends at at Habitat is His Very Best: Jimmy Carter, a Life by Jonathan Alter.

Funds raised for Habitat during the Great Fish Community Challenge will be used to build seven initial units in Whitefish as part of Habitat for Humanity of Flathead Valley's "Grounded In Whitefish" campaign.
