Today, March 18th is World Juvenile Arthritis Day. It’s a powerful opportunity to raise awareness about systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis (SJIA) one of the most complex and misunderstood forms of childhood arthritis.
*What is sJIA?
Systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis (SJIA) is a type of Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA), which is the most common category of arthritis affecting children under 16.
But SJIA is very different from other types of arthritis.
It is considered an auto-inflammatory disease, not purely autoimmune.
It affects the entire body (systemic), not just the joints. *SJIA in adults is called Still’s Disease, maybe you have heard of that!
We have some updates on our website! Check it out at www.gpbosse4foundation.com If you love golf and live near Philly, you don’t want to miss this!!!
Rare doesn’t mean impossible.Rare doesn’t mean invisible.Rare doesn’t mean it hurts any less. Systemic Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (SJIA) is one of the rarest forms of childhood arthritis.📊 Only 0.4–0.9 kids per 100,000 are diagnosed each year.Symptoms can include:• Daily spiking fevers• Painful joint inflammation• Exhaustion no child should know• A disease that can affect the whole body, not just the jointsSJIA doesn’t always look like arthritis which is why so many children are misdiagnosed or dismissed before getting answers.Awareness saves time.Time saves childhoods. And early treatment saves lives.Today, we speak up for the rare.
