Susan Fox Abel and I are just two ex-collegiate athletes feeding our competitive drives at weekend horse shows instead of on the volleyball court.

A different atmosphere with the same goal: 𝘞𝘪𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨.

And our team does it well 💪🏼

𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐚𝐫.

Some rides feel like you’re ready by for Congress. Others feel like you should hang up your spurs.

Some shows you mark a 75 and others you spin 4 times instead of 3.

Progress is defined as advancement towards a goal or destination, but no one told us that advancement wouldn’t be without set-backs, without failure, without a couple tears shed.

Stay the course. You’re closer now than you’ve ever been.

Julia has only gotten to ride “Phyllis” TWICE in the last 8 months, and yet she:

✅ Executed a perfect flying lead change

✅Marked her first 73 1/2 🔥🔥🔥🔥
(The third highest trail score ALL WEEKEND)

✅Wasn’t afraid to step into classes where she showed against the pros and folks 3x her age

This girl never ceases to amaze us with her coachability, desire to improve, and her communication skills with Phyllis. They truly are a perfect team!

Congratulations to all we had the opportunity to coach this weekend. We saw improvements across the board and you all should be proud of that.

It’s not always about the winning. It’s about becoming the best you can be for the horse underneath you.
