Having eyed it the day before, and learning the zipper was broken, Lisa offered the dress to me free of charge if I could get it repaired.
I’d returned the next day for it, and feeling quite grateful for her generosity made a purchase as a thank you in return.
Up front, there’s a collection of handmade polymer necklaces—mini plates of cheeses, a submarine sandwich that although the size of half my pinkie, looked as if it were freshly made.
I chose a wonderfully detailed necklace: miniature fried egg atop a piece of toast.
And then making one last round through the store, happened upon a breath taking sculpture of a woman adorned to a piece of drift wood. She was made of the same polymer that the necklace was—and I was immediately taken by the art of this sculpey clay. Sure enough she’d put out several bricks of it and without a second thought, I scooped up the entire lot.
The last two days I’ve been sculpting and baking. Yesterday my first attempt ever, I made miniature sushi with individual grains of rice. And today, a set of flailing tentacles emerging from a chinese take out box.
Thank you Lisa for inspiring me and introducing me to this craft.
What a stellar journey I took to get here too. 👏🏻
