Village Emporium on Main

Tonight I went and visited Village Emporium on Main, and I was amazed at the sheer volume of options they had on offer. Great clothes, awesome dishes, classy furniture. I managed to walk out with a novel by one of my favorite authors for just 50 cents.
If you're in the Johnson area, definitely stop by yourself and see what they've got in store for you!
So much to do! Winter Break Johnson Staycation Ideas. Please share!

Day 1: Get Outside! Ditch your screens for the day and spend it taking advantage of all the free outdoor recreation Johnson has to offer! Start at Legion Field for a morning of skating followed by an afternoon of sledding at XC skiing at Old Mill Park! Too wiped to make dinner after all that fresh air? Grab a pizza and salad from the Downtown Pizzeria & Pub

Day 2: Art lovers! Did you know there are two public galleries in town? Art hop from Red Mill Gallery at the Vermont Studio Center to Minėmå Gallery at the Main & Pearl building and get creatively transported by their new exhibitions! Feeling inspired to make your own masterpieces? Studio Store and Johnson Hardware Rental, Farm & Garden are candy stores for budding and experienced artist! Pick up those watercolors, pastels or canvases you’ve always wanted and spend the afternoon creating!

Day 3: Spa Day! Let’s face it, it’s mid-winter and we could all use a makeover! Pamper yourself and checkout the many services
Eclips Salon, Northern Highlights Salon and Tangles Salon have to offer. Too relaxed to cook after all that pampering? Order your favorite comfort foods and a drink from Moogs Joint- they’ll even deliver!

Day 4: Retail Therapy! Sometimes a new top or pair of earrings is all you need to feel reborn! Lucky for us, you don’t need to go far for ALL your wardrobe needs! The Forget Me Not Shop, Red House, Village Emporium on Main, Johnson Woolen Mills and the The Vermont Flannel Company each offer a total unique and fun shopping experience for the whole family! Shopped till you dropped? Johnson’s Kitchen will happily cook you your favorite Chinese dishes!

Day 5: Reading Rainbow! Ready to relax with your pups and a page turner on the couch? Ebenezer Books is a dreamy independent book store! They carry both local and national authors plus a good many books for kids and teens.! Not sure you want to commit to the latest New York Times bestseller? That’s why we have a public library! Not only do they have thousands of books and DVDs to borrow, they are giving out free crafts for kids! Just call ahead for curbside service.

Day 6: Send a taste of Vermont! Lift the spirits of a far away loved one with a sweet gift from Vermont! Marvin's Country Store - Butternut Mountain Farm Store has EVERYTHING maple plus some really beautiful Vermont Made specialty food items and gifts! Best part? They will pack it up and ship it for you! Want to send a personal note? They’ll do that too.

Day 7: Vote! Don’t forget March 2nd is local Election Day! While there is no Town Meeting this year, there is still in-person voting at the Municipal Building on March 2nd. If you are already a registered Johnson voter you should have received your Town Report and mail-in ballots in the mail as an alternative option. Get educated and get out the vote!
Found this vintage table at Village Emporium and it was just what I needed to complete my plant corner. Check it out right on Main Street in Johnson!
They have a very nice rocker recliner but I had no place for it. I believe it was $35 - steal 👍
It began with a beautiful, silken, pink and gold children’s dress. Lisa, the owner, had it nestled in the back, hanging off the small divider wall near the toys and stationery.
Having eyed it the day before, and learning the zipper was broken, Lisa offered the dress to me free of charge if I could get it repaired.
I’d returned the next day for it, and feeling quite grateful for her generosity made a purchase as a thank you in return.
Up front, there’s a collection of handmade polymer necklaces—mini plates of cheeses, a submarine sandwich that although the size of half my pinkie, looked as if it were freshly made.
I chose a wonderfully detailed necklace: miniature fried egg atop a piece of toast.
And then making one last round through the store, happened upon a breath taking sculpture of a woman adorned to a piece of drift wood. She was made of the same polymer that the necklace was—and I was immediately taken by the art of this sculpey clay. Sure enough she’d put out several bricks of it and without a second thought, I scooped up the entire lot.

The last two days I’ve been sculpting and baking. Yesterday my first attempt ever, I made miniature sushi with individual grains of rice. And today, a set of flailing tentacles emerging from a chinese take out box.
Thank you Lisa for inspiring me and introducing me to this craft.
What a stellar journey I took to get here too. 👏🏻
How exciting for both of you.
Congratulations Lisa and Jordan.
