Still Being Told to “Wait and See”?
A parent recently shared that she had been concerned about her child’s reading for more than a year. Each time she asked for help, she heard the same advice: “Let’s give it more time.”
But homework kept getting harder. Her child began avoiding books and saying, “I’m just not a good reader.”
The problem wasn’t effort or intelligence. Her child was missing specific reading skills that needed direct, targeted instruction.
When reading difficulties continue, waiting isn’t an intervention. Identifying the missing skills allows us to address the actual problem—and helps children experience the confidence that comes when reading finally begins to make sense.
If you’ve been told to wait but still feel concerned, trust your instincts. The Study Hub can help you understand what may be holding your child back and determine the next step.
Follow The Study Hub for more information about dyslexia and struggling readers. DON'T WAIT!

“I knew something wasn’t right… but everyone kept telling me not to worry.”
One of the first things parents tell us is, “I just knew something wasn’t right.”
She couldn’t point to one specific moment. It was a collection of little things—homework taking too long, familiar words suddenly seeming new, and excuses whenever it was time to read.
Everyone told her not to worry. “Children develop at different rates,” they said. But she saw how hard her child was working, and something in her gut kept telling her to look closer.
When she finally sought answers, she discovered that her child wasn’t lazy or lacking intelligence. There were specific reading skills that needed support.
Parents often notice the small signs before anyone else does. Trust your gut. Asking questions doesn’t mean you’re overreacting—it means you’re paying attention.
If something doesn’t feel right, The Study Hub can help you better understand your child’s reading needs and determine the next step.
