Practice is so important but it must be done right. You should take the time needed to make every shot. Must be focus at all time. It's your focus that needs the most practice. Most of the time a shot is missed is cause of focus. Focus let's you know if your lined up right and staining the cue right. If you missed and you were focused the it was a lack of understanding the mechanics of the shot. That shot must be practiced over and over till you get it. But there is more, way more. You got to learn your road maps and safeties and speed control. Everything starts with focus.

The Trap. If you go to a pool room a lot and play. Your going to have friends. And your friends are going to put you in a category. They're going to say your better than so and so it not as good as so and so. Don't fall for it! It a trap. I don't care if they are 100% correct. You are putting limits on yourself. It's a roadblock to your success in the game. If someone says you can't play is only one more reason to practice hard. You keep learning and you keep going and you will prevail. You keep believing in yourself always. You tell yourself I'm better than this. Sooner or later you will be. But you won't if you fall for the trap. Ok. I can't beat Johnny Archer. But I keep seeing myself one day doing it. Don't be afraid to set high goals. I'm not going to be a and run one rack, I'm going to break and run five racks. My next article will be on practice.

Article 1: Practice, practice, practice. Confidence only comes from repetition. You may come to a shot and it's an easy shot but you missed. There can be a lot of reasons for missing but sometimes you just forget how to make it. You pull the shot out again and miss it again. There is your confirmation. You keep shooting it till all the details about that shot is embedded in your mind. This is how you build confidence in that shot. When you master that shot, you will make it under any pressure. If you don't then you must practice it more till you are convinced you will make it. Soon it will become second nature and will take little thought.

I've got this idea to write articles from time to time to share with you some thoughts on building your pool game up. Hopefully this will help players along the way. I might not be one hundred percent correct about anything I write cause everyone is different. Some things may not apply to you. You are welcome to share your insights as well.
