[08/11/21]   Position available - hiring for Family Intervention Specialist (Jackson)

Nexus is currently recruiting personnel to join our youth services department as a Family Intervention Specialist to work as a member of the Family Urgent Response System (FURS) mobile response team. The FURS mobile response team will perform a wide range of activities to support clients and their families including but not limited to crisis intervention, linkage to mental health services and community resources, and family stabilization and preservation.

The Family Intervention Specialist (FIS) provides community-based and family-based mental health crisis intervention and case management services to foster youth placed in Amador County along with their caregivers. The FIS is a member of a treatment team designed to provide preventative interventions and crisis support when there are concerns for immediate safety. The FIS will support youth and families by completing comprehensive risk assessment and safety plans to determine level of risk, needs of the youth, and strengths of the youth and the family. The FIS will support the youth and family with linkage and advocacy in order to connect them to long-term services and support.

The Family Intervention Specialist (FIS) will:
• Work with the treatment team to provide preventative intervention, crisis intervention, and all necessary follow up
• Provide therapeutic crisis intervention and stabilization
• Provide case management services to ensure the successful transition of clients and their families to long-term community-based support
• Participate in all treatment reviews, program meetings, trainings, and IEP meetings when necessary
• Collaborate and communicate with the FURS team
• Provide rotating on-call coverage and crisis intervention
• Complete mental health notes and other required paperwork/documentation
• Participate in weekly supervision with the Therapeutic Services Coordinator
• Maintain professional behavior at all times, appropriately representing Nexus in the community
• Act as a team lead for the FURS team; provide training and guidance to Parent Partners and Youth Advocates
• Establish connections and maintain relationships with community supports, including foster family agencies
• Perform other duties as required by supervisor
• Flexibility with schedule to support coverage of program

Eligible candidates will possess a Master's Degree or be in the process of completing their Master's in Psychology or Social Work.

• Individual counseling for child victims of trauma, abuse, or bullying;
• Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT);
• Aggression Replacement Training (ART) groups; and
• Common Ground group therapy for teens and parents.

Nexus is seeking a limited term Therapeutic Services Manager/Coordinator - LMFT who is skilled at providing therapeutic counseling for children who have experienced trauma, as well as coordinating and supervising all therapy programs within the department. Candidates should have an awareness of and experience in current therapeutic techniques which provide positive outcomes for children and families.

The Supervised Visitation Coach supervises visits between a child or children and their non-custodial parent. In most cases, these visits are the result of a court order that requires a neutral party to be present. The job duties include monitoring the interaction between the parent and child and documenting the date, time and visitation participants. Limited interaction with families is required. Depending on the situation emotional support is given to the child, or in rare circumstances intervention is required (separation of the child from the parent) if/when the child’s emotional, mental, or physical safety is at risk.
