Quality control is not just a compliance activity. It determines whether materials can be used, whether production stays on schedule, and whether inventory is actually available when needed.

Yet many process manufacturers still manage QC outside the procurement workflow, allowing materials into inventory before approvals are complete and relying on manual checks to control risk.

Our latest article explores why quality control should be embedded directly into the Procure-to-Pay process, from goods receipt and QC hold through inventory release, traceability, and compliance.

"We were doing our planning in spreadsheets."

That's how Amir Banimostafavi, CEO of SIPCO Innovations, describes their procurement planning process before BatchMaster ERP.

Many process manufacturers make purchasing decisions based on spreadsheets, historical trends, and disconnected planning systems. As demand changes, procurement teams often struggle to respond quickly and accurately.

In this clip, he shares how moving from static planning methods to a more dynamic MPS and MRP-driven approach improved visibility into demand, simplified purchasing decisions, and helped the team make more forward-looking procurement decisions.

Watch how they approached the challenge.

Most people think Procure-to-Pay starts with a purchase order and ends with a vendor payment. But in reality, it starts much earlier for process manufacturers.

Demand planning, MRP, procurement, quality control, inventory, traceability, invoice matching, and vendor payments all play a role in how efficiently materials move through the business.

When these processes are disconnected, the result is often excess inventory, quality bottlenecks, delayed decisions, and limited financial visibility.

In our latest LinkedIn newsletter, we break down the complete Procure-to-Pay process for process manufacturers and explore what changes when the entire workflow is connected.

Youโ€™ll also hear insights from Amir Banimostafavi, CEO of SIPCO Innovations, on how they improved procurement planning and operational efficiency with BatchMaster ERP.

We had two separate systems, one for manufacturing and one for accounting that barely talked to each other.

It sounds manageable but for SIPCO Innovations, it meant procurement, inventory, and financial information lived in different places, making it difficult to get a complete picture of the business.

Most process manufacturers face similar procurement challenges including disconnected systems, spreadsheet-based planning, manual purchasing workflows, and limited operational visibility.

In this short clip, Amir Banimostafavi, CEO of SIPCO Innovations, explains the P2P challenges they faced before BatchMaster ERP and why visibility across operations became a priority.

Most process manufacturers donโ€™t realize they have a Procure-to-Pay problem until delays, inventory issues, QC bottlenecks, and reconciliation errors start affecting operations and cash flow.

Between demand planning and vendor payment, cash gets trapped in excess inventory, time disappears into manual reconciliation, and visibility depends on who knows where to look.

Operational resilience is becoming the new valuation premium in process manufacturing.

Not growth alone.
Not production scale alone.

Buyers are increasingly paying for:
โ€ข Traceable operations
โ€ข Specialized manufacturing capability
โ€ข Integrated quality systems
โ€ข Strong operational visibility

Manufacturers with operational defensibility are attracting stronger strategic interest across food, beverage, nutraceutical, and specialty chemical sectors.

The valuation gap between โ€œcapacity providersโ€ and โ€œcapability-driven manufacturersโ€ continues to widen.

Most process manufacturers still think operational risk starts with a recall, an audit, or a supply disruption.

It doesnโ€™t.

It starts much earlier, when disconnected systems make it difficult to see margin exposure, formulation impact, traceability gaps, or production deviations in real time.

That gap is becoming more expensive in 2026.

โ€ข FDA ingredient oversight is accelerating
โ€ข Input cost volatility is becoming harder to predict
โ€ข AI investments are struggling at the ex*****on layer
โ€ข Buyers are rewarding operational visibility and control

The manufacturers gaining strategic advantages are not necessarily producing more.

They are responding faster, adapting faster, and operating with greater visibility across production, quality, compliance, and costing.

That shift is already influencing margins, audit readiness, and valuation.

May reinforced a major shift across process manufacturing: operational resilience is becoming the defining advantage.

Across food, beverage, nutraceutical, and specialty chemical manufacturing, the pressure intensified from multiple directions at once:

โ†’ FDA ingredient review activity accelerated
โ†’ Input cost volatility surged again
โ†’ AI conversations moved from experimentation to operational ex*****on
โ†’ Buyers continued rewarding manufacturers with stronger operational control

For manufacturers with $5Mโ€“$200M in revenue, operational control is no longer just an efficiency initiative. It is becoming the foundation of margin protection, compliance readiness, and enterprise value.
