Heidi’s Kids

Heidi’s Kids

Good evening everyone! I know it is just the beginning of November, but at Heidi's Kids, we have been on Christmas since the second week of October.
I am very honored to be a part of this non profit.
I was sitting down today going through the "LETTERS TO THE NORTH POLE" today and my heart was super blessed. These kids are so sweet, with many of them only listing a few items and thanking Santa for thinking about them.
If you are able to make a donation, or sponsor a child, you will be making a difference in the life of a local child. We also have an opportunity for businesses to host a toy drop off box if that is an option for you!
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!!!
This month's installment of the Weber Giveback Program features, "Heidi's Kids," an amazing charity based in Irondale, AL.

Their mission is to be the lighthouse in times of darkness. To give the gift of hope. And to always be the blessing and never the judge

My awesome photographer, Todd Eagle met up with Heidi and two of her volunteers this afternoon so we can show you how it all works tonight at 10 on WVTM 13.

Today we celebrated Valentines Day by showing the love to the staff at Irondale Community School.
Heidi’s kids partnered with Fishes Loaves & Love to present them with a delicious lunch and gift baskets. Thank you to several businesses throughout the community who helped make today possible. A special thanks to Marty’s GM for giving us a discount which allowed us to purchase each employee a $25 gift certificate.
Irondale Community School does not have a PTO to organize teacher appreciation lunches. These teachers work tirelessly with less resources than surrounding schools and very little appreciation. They deserve to be celebrated. We were met with huge smiles and grateful spirits.
What a blessing it was…to be the blessing today ❤️

This is one of my favorites ❤️

We get calls on occasion from people who have fallen behind on their rent and utilities. Heidi’s Kids does not have a rent assistance program. Below is a list of organizations who can help you with rent and utility assistance. We can help you with basic needs such as food, clothing and hygiene items. Hopefully this will be helpful for those in need.

Be the blessing 💛

We are in the planning stages of expanding our blessing box program. Thankful to all who have made our Irondale pilot box such a success.
More details coming this Spring. 💛

We had a successful day @ Linn Park handing out coats, blankets, hats, scarves and sweaters! We were able to serve the homeless community with 105 coats, 85 hats and scarves, 40 sweaters and hoodies along with 50 blankets/sleeping bags! The women and men wanted me to tell you Thank You!!
We would not be able to do these outreaches without the support of our community and are thankful for everyone who donated items!
Thank you to our volunteers for showing up today for distribution. You ladies are awesome!

Heidi’s Kids would like to thank the Irondale Public Library and everyone who participated in this service project.
Irondale Public Library hosted a MLK Jr. Day of Service project. They provided no sew fleece hat kits to the public to take home, make and return to the library. We picked them up today and they will be distributed to the homeless as part of our coat drive.
Thank you for being a blessing 💕

We have extended the collection dates for our coat drive. Thank you to all who have assisted us in giving the gift of warmth this season.

We are partnering with Heidi’s Kids for a service project in celebration of MLK Jr. Day. Drop by for a kit to make this fleece hat. Bring your completed hat back to the library by Jan. 31 and Heidi's Kids will distribute the hats, along with coats from a coat drive, to people in need.

We would like to thank the members of Irondale Community United for transferring their non profit to Heidi's Kids. This group of people helped us to expedite our 501c3 status and in doing so opened many doors for our charity. We are extremely grateful for the generous donation gifted by the outgoing board members.

Hope everyone has enjoyed their holiday! Just wanted to remind you that Heidi's Kids has kicked off our annual coat drive! Please think about us as you are cleaning out your closets! We are accepting hoodies, sweatshirts, coats, hats, gloves and scarves. You can drop these items off at Art's Barbershop at 3300 Crestwood Blvd. If you are in the Chelsea area, you can drop off at High Cotton Boutique and receive a 10% discount off of one item! Thank you for giving the gift of warmth!

Heidi’s Kids would like to present our first annual Angels Among Us Award to Ross and Sharron Graham. This award is presented annually to the person, or company that embodies what it means to be a blessing.

I often refer to Ross and Sharron as the Grandparents of Irondale. They have been here from the beginning, and watched this town grow and become the city it is now. From the very moment I moved my charity to Irondale they have supported us every single step of the way. They are anything and everything Irondale. Anytime we ask for things for the children of Irondale they are among the first to offer assistance. Ross always checks back when the deadline arrives, and he will say “Did you get everything you need for the Irondale children?”

Their hearts do not stop at the city limits though. Early in the year we were setting up a field kitchen to feed the first responders, and victims of the Fultondale tornado. Ross showed up and said "Sharon is bringing food, please let me know if you don’t have enough."

Last year we pushed our storage space at the shop to its limits. I was under a large amount of stress trying to find a building to hold all of our toys this year. Ross overheard this conversation, and offered up an office that they own here in Irondale. This location was ideal for Irondale parents to pick up, and perfect for us. They even helped us furnish the office with shelves to hold all the toys. We did not pay a dime for the space or utilities!

I had the pleasure of meeting their lovely daughter last week as she came by to make a donation in her parents name as a Christmas gift from her sister and herself. I was speechless when I heard that this was their plan as their Christmas gift to their parents. It speaks volumes as to how they was raised, and where the hearts are of the entire Graham family.

The day before the parent pick up, and long after Sharron had finished the boxes for the children they sponsored, Ross came by our office to check one last time. He asked, “Are all of the Irondale children covered?”

Yes, they were, in large part due to you and your wife. ❤️

We are forever thankful for Sharron and Ross Graham.
They are truly a blessing.

I would like to introduce you to Miss. Broom.
Miss. Broom is the counselor at Irondale Community School. She worked tirelessly this year to see that every child in need at Irondale Community School woke up to Christmas. This is not a requirement of her job!
This work did not start at 7am and end at 3pm.
I called her at night and on the weekends, she never failed to answer my calls and assist me with anything I needed. Hannah has an amazing heart and her love for these children shines bright in her work.
Thank you Hannah Broom for being a blessing. ❤️

Heidi’s Kids would like to take a moment to praise these two children and their grandmother. Joyce M Carroll Sieder’s grandchildren; Enzo and Annabelle worked to earn the money to purchase the food to make the holiday meal kits. They then packaged them all themselves and even added a sweet gift tag.

Each bag contains:
2 canned hams
Stuffing mix
Scallop potatoes
Green bean casserole ingredients and recipe
Box of milk
Can opener

These sweet babies made a total of 10 bags and they will be placed in the Blessing Box 3/4 a day leading up to Christmas.
Little hands doing big things ❤️

Thank you to Andy Weeks and Red Mountain Logistics for hosting one of our toy drive boxes.
You are a blessing ❤️🎄❤️

Heidi’s kids Toy Drive 2021
We would like to thank everyone who helped us bring Christmas to local children in need. ❤️
With the help of all of you amazing people we were able to provide sponsor boxes to 126 children.
(5 Toys, 2 outfits, shoes and coat)
We also collected over 700 toys for the children at the Love Lady Center.
There is no greater blessing than to be the blessing.

Councilman John London came by our office Friday to get a tour and see the behind the scenes process of how it all works. He stayed an hour or more and we had a great conversation about the needs in this community. When he got up to leave he said “I will be back in the morning.”
I thought maybe he wanted to see the boxes being handed out.
I was wrong! Councilman London showed up to work!!
He spent his morning loading boxes and bicycles into vehicles. Wishing families a Merry Christmas and making hearts smile.
I did not know John very well before Saturday, I feel blessed to have met him.
Heidi’s kids would like to thank Councilman John London for being a blessing. ❤️

We would like to thank Mayor James Stewart and his lovely daughter Jade for coming by our Heidi’s Kids office Saturday. He took time out of his already busy day to see the behind the scenes work that goes into our toy drive.
Mayor Stewart has been very supportive of our Charity and we appreciate all of his love and support.
Thank you for being a blessing ❤️
