LES MILLS STRENGTH DEVELOPMENT is progressive strength training, meaning each workout focuses on a specific training protocol for building strength over 12 different workouts. This ranges from Foundational Strength, to Hypertrophy, to Pure Strength, while the structure and feel is very different to BODYPUMP™.
This is a limited edition group fitness class that requires registration. By signing up, you are guaranteed a spot for the duration of the class.

LES MILLS PILTATES is magical choreography, hypnotic music, and the latest exercise science. A 45-minute mind-body workout designed to improve strength, mobility and happiness.

Do your kids want to get into climbing?
Join us for ten weeks of exciting lessons taking place on both our bouldering and top rope climbing wall. Climbers will learn knot tying, belaying, movement technique, rappelling and much more. This program is a great way for youth to broaden their horizons and connect with new friends.

LES MILLS SHAPES is the workout you never knew you needed.
An invigorating blend of Pilates, barre, and power yoga set to modern beats. With small, controlled movements, you sculpt and strengthen all major muscle groups, improve alignment and increase flexibility. It’s a low impact but intense way to heat up your training.
Classes are January 27 - March 12 on Mondays and Wednesdays

We’re excited to announce some fresh additions to our fitness schedule that we think you’re going to love! Get ready for three brand-new Les Mills programs designed to elevate your workout experience:
- LES MILLS PILATES
- LES MILLS SHAPES
- LES MILLS STRENGTH DEVELOPMENT
These programs are a bit different from our regular offerings. They’ll run within a specific timeframe, with a limited number of spots available. To participate, you'll commit to two classes per week for 4-12 weeks. This structure ensures a deeper focus, as you’ll experience continuous progress with tailored coaching and evolving workouts.
Please note, there will be an additional fee for these programs. In return, you’ll secure your spot in each class and receive expert guidance throughout the program.
Spots will be limited, so be sure to keep an eye out for more details.
Early registration will be from December 16 - January 2!

This past weekend, they traveled to the Lone Star Bowl hosted by National Collegiate Rugby in Houston, Texas. The Hawks played against the University of Texas Longhorns and won 72-5. Iowa Captain .mcrae was selected as the Lone Star Bowl MVP! 🏆

Experience ROWFitness!
Did you know rowing utilizes 90% of the body’s muscles? Join us to get the most out of your cardio. Sessions include instruction on proper rowing technique, as well as interval training for all fitness levels. Additional activities for core and strength added into sessions.
All activities are at P. Sue Beckwith Boathouse.

Winter is a great time to learn to row! Learn all the basics while staying on land and utilizing the indoor rowing facilities at P. Sue Beckwith Boathouse. Athletes will get to learn the rowing motion with an oar, as well as learn about the equipment. This is an easy way to get introduced to the sport and stay warm, without getting in a boat. Athletes completing this day are eligible to join the winter season rowing programs that are based on land.
Registration is required. All activities are at P. Sue Beckwith Boathouse.
Session 1: Sunday, December 15, 8 - 10 a.m.
Session 2: Sunday, January 5, 9 - 11 a.m.

You can purchase a day pass at all recreation facilities on campus or one calendar day (not 24 hours). Purchase includes access to fitness equipment, open recreation, group fitness classes, and pools when open.

Recreational Services hires UI students for the majority of our hourly positions, however, some program areas may hire non-students or students from other institutions. The same application process applies for all hourly positions. Hiring is done on a first-come, first-served basis.
