In the past 15 years, monitoring has shown the HPV vaccines to be safe and effective. Among vaccinated women, the percentage of cervical precancers caused by HPV types has dropped by 40%

Staying cool is hard when it's this hot. Here are some quick tips for this extreme heat!
🌞 stay indoors in AC, if you don't have AC, head to a public place like a mall, library, or rec center.
🌞 Drink water and avoid alcohol
🌞 Check on the Elderly, Children, & pets who are sensitive to the heat
🌞 If you must be outside, go early or late in the day & wear light-colored clothing.

Attention parents of future Kindergarten and 9th Grade Students!!! Your child/ren will need a dental certificate in their school health record. Please schedule with your dentist now to get an appointment before school starts in August. Many dentists have extended waiting lists for appointments. Mosquitos can carry diseases that make you sick. There are simple ways to protect yourself and your loved ones. Wear insect-repellent, wear light-colored, long-sleeved shirts and pants, and eliminate standing water near your home to prevent breeding.

Johnson County Public Health conducts mosquito surveillance annually between May and September, which seeks to monitor and identify mosquito species that threaten public health as carriers of West Nile or Zika Virus. Johnson County Public Health investigates several Malaria cases every year, and the US reports about 2000 cases annually. These are often in travelers from other countries. If you are traveling to an area where Malaria is widespread, like most African nations, SE Asia, Mexico, and South or Central America, you should check with your doctor to find out if medication is recommended to reduce your chances of getting infected.
