Meet Lauren Macke, the Treasurer of Undergraduate Dance Organization and member of the University Theatres Student Representatives!
Lauren has developed skills for leadership, creativity, and time management in her roles. She has practiced collaboration with partners outside of the organizations and teamwork with her peers within the organizations.
Lauren is majoring in Dance and Theatre Arts and is earning a certificate in Entrepreneurial Management. In her classes she has learned to discuss topics about the arts in a professional setting and has connected with peers and faculty members. She has also gained insight into entrepreneurial tools for successful business management, which have helped her to articulate the needs and ideas of her organizations. Lauren’s leadership experiences in delegating, organizing, and managing money for events and representing peers will help her to apply her educational background in her future career. 🖤💛

Meet Claudia Archer, the Vice President for Iowa 3D Club and the Webmaster for Society of Women Engineers!
Claudia believes these leadership positions have helped her to grow in numerous ways, including taking on new challenges and being open to new ideas. In each club meeting and event she aims to better understand others and herself.
Claudia is majoring in Biomedical Engineering. In her classes she has practiced problem solving and creativity in forming solutions, skills she can apply to her roles. Her lessons in topics of statics have been useful in application to Iowa 3D Club and building relationships with professors has helped her to network for stronger support in various topics relevant to Society of Women Engineers. Claudia is grateful for the opportunities to have her passions reflected in the work she does for her organizations, which she will continue into her future career. These experiences have helped her to be a more competitive and well-rounded student for her future applications. 🖤💛

Did you know: in 1940 the University of Iowa awarded the nation’s first Masters of Fine Arts to three students, one of whom was Elizabeth Catlett. Elizabeth Catlett was the first African American woman to receive the MFA and was a renowned sculptor and printmaker. Now, Catlett Residence Hall is named in her honor.
