Cheers for solutions to habitat loss and injury/death for human and wild animal lives 👏

More local radio goodness from KICI-LP radio in Iowa City.
Holly Hart's interview with Liz Crooks and Jessica Smith of the University of Iowa's Museum of Natural History immediately follows the new Green Room IC episode. Listen at 105.3 FM in Iowa City.

The Green Room IC segment is about 18 minutes, so UI Natural History Segment will start today at approximately 4:48pm.

We're hoping this is the beginning of a partnership, bringing regular updates from the museum to the Iowa City area on KICI radio.

Check KICI's schedule on its page and KICIradio.org. The Green Room IC Matt Brewbaker and UI Museum interviews are running in the Green Room IC2 slots.
I miss working here!

If you've been following along with the Zebra story from earlier this week, we thought you might like to hear that we got images back from the Department of Radiology today.

You'll remember, we were able to view X-Rays on the machine in the gallery instantaneously, but now we have permanent record to help inform conservators during their work this winter. #cool!

If you haven't seen it yet, read up all about this amazing project and collaboration here: https://pentacrestmuseums.uiowa.edu/news/2021/09/museum-zebra-gets-x-ray

Museum Zebra Gets X-ray

Read about an amazing interdepartmental effort to X-ray a Zebra at the Museum of Natural History in preparation for conservation.

Museum Zebra Gets X-ray UI Department of Radiology and the Museum of Natural History team up for an interdepartmental collaboration to X-ray a Zebra in preparation of conservation efforts.

Photos from The University of Iowa Museum of Natural History's post 09/20/2021

Check out some shots from the unbelievable collaboration between Museum staff and our colleagues at the UI Department of Radiology over the weekend.

X-Rays taken by the Radiology team will help conservators learn more about the methods used to prepare the historic zebra specimen, acquired by MNH in 1931.

The zebra will undergo restoration this winter to address degradation from light and other environmental factors over time.

Special thanks to the whole team and also to UI Health Care Information Systems for lending a truck to get this equipment across the river! Three cheers for this collaborative, interdisciplinary effort in joint dedication to science!

More on this story soon. 🤍🦓🖤
