Check your vehicle regularly, inspect your tires, coolant, put your wipers up right before starts snowing or freezing rain, Be safe out there everyone!!

[01/11/20]   All cars run the AC compressor when the defroster is on. It’s not counterproductive. The AC removes moisture from the incoming air in order to keep the windows clear from fogging up.

There are temps where the AC won’t run, the pressure switches and sensors will take care of that and turn off the compressor if the system is in danger of icing up.

[01/11/20]   How to Take Care of Your Car in Winter?

When the temperatures drop and the weather gets tricky, it can be tough to keep your car in good shape. But it’s not impossible. Here are the best tips for taking care of your car during the cold winter months.

Keep it clean
Especially if you live in an area where rain, snow, and sleet are likely, it can be hard to keep your car clean and salt free. Make the most of your car’s resting time when you’re not driving it. If you have a garage or a car port, always use it. That will be your car’s best chance of not being susceptible to unnecessary weather side effects.

When your car does fall subject to inclement weather, prioritize keeping your windows clean. Invest in a good windshield wiper fluid to use throughout the season. And prior to the winter months, make sure you give your car a good wash and wax. We recommend using a wax like the options listed on the Vehicle Lab for an ideal pre-winter wax treatment. Waxing isn’t something you want to risk doing at home and not getting it right.

Keep lighting up to par
Driving gets tougher in the winter, so having solid, fully functioning lighting is crucial. Especially since the sun sets earlier in the day in winter, there’s more darkness that you need to be able to safely navigate through. Be sure all of your vehicle’s lights — including headlights, tail lights, turn signals, high beams and internal lighting — are in excellent shape. If you have a bulb out, make sure you fix it before winter starts. If your headlights are foggy or dim, replace or restore them.

Check your coolant
Coolant, or antifreeze, is crucial to keeping your car safe and drivable during the cold winter months. Before winter starts, make sure your car’s coolant level is sound, and make sure there aren’t any leaks in your car that could cause coolant to drain out. Many mechanics recommend drivers use a 50/50-mix of coolant and water in their vehicle’s radiator, which usually results in a lower engine freezing point than just coolant.

Replace your tires
The tough winter weather can be especially rough on tires, which are your first line of protection against slippery and dangerous roads. Make sure your car is equipped with winter-friendly tires, and that the tread is solid. Winter tires work better in lower temperatures than regular tires. Also, be sure you have tire chains at the ready in your car if you live in an area where it frequently snows.

Furthermore, make sure your tire pressure is at a healthy level. You need to keep track of your tire pressure in winter months because it’s highly susceptible to dropping when the temperature goes down. If you drive around with tire pressure that’s too low in the winter, this could lead to premature wear or tread separation, both of which can lead to accidents. Be extra wary of tire pressure in winter, and be sure to overfill at the start of the season.

[01/11/20]   How NOT to crack your windshield on an icy morning??

1. Pour hot water on the vehicle's windshield and windows to melt the ice. The frozen glass could shatter due to the extreme temperature change.
2. Tap the ice on the car windshield with a hammer to break the ice into pieces to pick off the glass. This usually results in an impact hole or a large crack.
3. Scrape the ice off a windshield with a metal ice scraper, key, spatula, utility knife or crowbar. The metal either scratches or cuts grooves in the glass.
4. Use a propane torch to melt the ice. Not only is this dangerous to the torchbearer, but this also can unintentionally melt the glass.
5. Pour a mixture of vinegar and water on the windshield before it freezes, preventing ice buildup. Vinegar eats pits into the windshield glass.

cold-weather tips:
1. Check to make sure no ice or snow is obstructing the vehicle’s tailpipe. If it is covered, the ice or snow must be removed to prevent the possibility of carbon monoxide poisoning inside the vehicle.
2. If the car door is frozen shut with ice, pour cold water to gradually melt the ice and use a plastic ice scraper to carefully chip a crack in the ice around the door seal and the lock. Do not try to “unseal” the door by using a hair dryer, cigarette lighter, ice pick, screwdriver, propane torch or portable heater.
3. Start the vehicle and use the defroster setting to warm the glass. Wait at least five minutes for the car to start to warm up.
4. When the ice in contact with the windshield is melting, use a plastic ice scraper and a soft plastic bristle brush or broom to clear the ice. A squeegee also helps.

"The most important thing is to plan some extra time to remove the ice before traveling,"

[01/01/20]   Will be closed tomorrow January 1, 2020 🥳
We wish everyone a happy and blessed new year!!🎊🎊

A car tune-up is a type of preventive maintenance performed on a vehicle to ensure it continues to perform well. A tune-up is typically regularly scheduled -- once a year is a very soft rule of thumb -- and offers the chance for you to get all of the preventive maintenance your car needs at that time. Getting a car tune-up regularly will help you maintain your car's performance and extend its life.

When you have a tune-up performed, it will typically include the replacement of several important wear-and-tear parts. Failure to replace these parts can result in decreased performance and other problems. For example, the air filter will typically need to be replaced at least once per year. If a dirty air filter is not replaced, the engine may receive less air than it needs to run properly. If this problem is not addressed, the air-fuel mixture will continue running richer, which means there is not enough air and too much fuel in the mixture. This can ultimately result in the failure of other parts and a waste of fuel. The tune-up should also include cleaning or replacing the spark plugs and, on older cars, the distributor cap and rotor. Tune-ups may also include replacement of the fuel filter, oxygen sensor, PCV valve, and spark plug wires. If your vehicle contains platinum spark plugs, they may not need to be changed as frequently. Vehicles with an electronic ignition rather than a distributor will not need to have the distributor cap and rotor replaced.
