Summit St. has been a part of Tau legacy for 47 years and is showing its age. It has become clear that we must make a major investment in our Chapter house if we are to remain competitive and provide a quality living and learning environment. Working with Bumblebeet Design (www.bumblebeet.com) and lead interior designer, Sarah Whaley Campbell, '99, the Tau House Corporation has developed a tactica
l approach to our future. Our Plan
Ground Floor
- Demo wall in mail room to join two room together and create mail slots for 60 students
- New cabinetry and cabinets in kitchen
- Replace some appliances in kitchen
- Install new carpet and counter top in study space
- Replace tile in the guest bedroom shower and new floor throughout
- Create designated study space in the Chapter Room
First Floor
- Remove and replace front entrance door
- New floor in guest bathroom
- New flooring, ceiling, and furnishings in living room
- Create new study area in the living room
- Add in additional electric outlets
- New main front door with updated keypad
- New flooring in the entry way
- Update House Mother's bathroom with new tile in the shower and new sink with vanity
Second Floor
- Demo and replace wardrobes in bedrooms, adding in additional space and storage
- New furnishings and flooring in bedrooms
- Remove and replace lock sets on sleeping rooms
Exterior
- Demo and replace blacktop in the parking lot
Whole House Updates
- Install new flush valves and toilet seats
- Rebuild existing Symmons Temptrol shower valves, including chrome trim and shower heads
- Inspect drain piping after tile is removed, replace membrane for shower flooring and install new shower drains
- Remove two existing bathtubs, cap lines in the wall, and secure drain vent/lines
- Rough in water, drain, and venting for two sets of stackable washer and dryer sets
-Replace mirrors, flooring, and light fixtures
- Replace sinks and create vanity space for additional storage
- Redecorate bathroom with updated tiles, cabinetry, and accessories
- Add additional electric outlets
- Install new windows
- Update heating and air conditioning units in each bedroom
- Repaint hallways, main rooms, and bedrooms
- New flooring throughout
- New doors throughout
- Replace light fixtures in hallways
- Remove water closets for new floors and re-set, inspect piping, flanges, and internal traps
- Install new treads and banisters in stairways
