Pop-up Donation Drop is a new program offered this year to offer convenient donation options for students and community members that may be moving or just in need of a donation option for usable items they don’t need anymore.

Several temporary drop-off locations will be available on specific dates/times and will be located in a variety of different neighborhoods over the next few months. With Rummage in the Ramp not happening this year, this program is meant to serve as an alternative, co-hosted by the City of Iowa City and University of Iowa Office of Sustainability and the Environment.

For event dates and locations, visit www.icgov.org/donationdrop.
We’re excited to once again rescue food donated by students moving out of their dorms with the University of Iowa Office of Sustainability and the Environment Donate Don’t Dump initiative!
How would you like to generate solar energy to run your home or fuel your car? Would you like to store it away for a rainy day or sell it to a power company? If you don’t know much about solar energy, what would you like to find out?

In the past several years, the interest in solar has been exploding and for good reason: solar energy is becoming the most affordable form of electricity and could stabilize energy costs in the future; it could increase self-reliance when energy grids go down; it could produce good-paying jobs; and, most important, it could help us avoid catastrophic climate change.

JCED has partnered with The City of Iowa City Government, University of Iowa Office of Sustainability and the Environment, and other partners to learn more about how Iowa City residents feel about solar energy in their community. Let us know how you feel by taking the survey!

Survey participants can choose to be entered to win a package of 10 LED lightbulbs!

The survey is open now until Sunday, May 16th here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/JCEDFinalSurvey

Hi everyone! 💚🌳🌸 To kick off Earth month, EnCo is excited to host a super interesting lecture from UIowa’s very own Dr. Eric Tate! Dr. Tate is an associate professor of Geographical and Sustainability Sciences here at Iowa. His research focus is on flood hazards, vulnerability indicators, disaster recovery, and social inequity. He has published a plethora of publications, four of these being released in the past year, that focus on his aforementioned interests.

This lecture is a great opportunity for younger students to get a glimpse of what upperclassman EPPL and Sustainability classes are like and to enjoy a really interesting lecture from a very impressive person. We hope to see you all there! 😄
