Starting Monday, June 3, 2024, the on-ramp from 1st Avenue to I-80 eastbound will be closed until early August.

🚘 If you normally take 1st Ave to go east on I-80, plan ahead: get on I-80 at the Dubuque St. interchange (exit 244) or the Coral Ridge Ave. interchange (exit 240). Or, take 1st Ave. to get on I-80 west, detour at the Coral Ridge Ave interchange (exit 240), and then back on I-80 eastbound. Be patient, plan for extra travel time, and drive safely.
👍 The I-80 westbound on-ramp from 1st Ave. remains open.
👍 1st Ave. traffic is one lane in each direction using the new diverging diamond traffic pattern. Follow traffic signals, pavement markings, and traffic signs.
🚴🚶 Bicyclists and pedestrians are using the new trail that goes from the northeast corner of E. 9th St, through two trail tunnels, over I-80 on the trail bridge, and through a new trail tunnel under 1st Ave.

As I look back at the last 50 years of being on my own, I am thankful for all what I have accomplished and experienced. Personally, I am most proud of my children and grandchildren, but career wise I went onto get a degree in Accounting and Business from Loras College, 25 years at Interstate Power Co/Alliant Energy, and 4 years at ITC. What stands out the most is my last 7 years at E & F Paving/Streb Construction.. What a way to end my working career. It was so hard to say goodbye to them. I was able to work with the hardest and most committed people. This is shown in how these 2 commercial concrete paving companies have grown and strive throughout the years. This is due to their owners Dave & Steve Streb, our CFO, the over and above office team, the outstanding project managers, the mechanics, and each member of the crews.
