Hello! Want to see the first stamped Christmas card I ever made, way back in 1996? Read on!

Time to take down the Christmas placemats (finally, you might say!) Making these placemats is a family tradition that goes back three generations in my family. My grandma made them, my mom and my aunts made them and then the tradition was taught to my generation and then my brothers, my cousins and I passed this crafting tradition to our kids. So fun and meaningful!

When I was putting away the placemats this weekend, I noticed this particular one had some stamping history on it. The holly leaves card in the corner was the first Christmas card I ever made to send out to friends and family! I remember that is how I first made stamped cards - I stamped one large image in the middle of the card, embossed it and then colored the detailed images in with markers. I thought it was the coolest thing ever - and it was! I even used some deckled scissors on this card. 😉

I know it was 1996 when I made these cards because I remember coloring the images while my sweet 6 month old baby Reed took his naps. 😊

AND I noticed something else very memorable on this placemat. The beautiful purple and pink ornament card was made by my good friend, Laura Kelly-Seward, who first taught me to stamp! I thought it was so elegant and detailed and very stylishly unique with the use of purple and pink for Christmas colors.

Thanks for reading my long post! I love the tradition of these placemats and the preserving of beautiful cards.

Happy Friday! The Wildflower Birthday Suite in the new spring mini catalog is so beautiful AND it’s very easy to create elegant and whimsical cards with it! 🌸🍰🌸🍰🌸

The Wildflower Birthday DSP pack includes two sheets of punch out die cut shapes like the flower bouquet, cakes and banners on these cards. So easy to quickly create fabulous cards!

For example, I created the 90th Birthday card for a dear friend’s mom’s birthday. The background of the card features three strips of different Wildflower Birthday DSP.

I then layered the bouquet and cake die cut pieces on top and finally added the “90th” from the Birthday Celebration die cuts in this suite and the “Happy” from the Birthday Celebration stamp set. So fun, elegant and easy! 🍰🍰🍰

Hello! Sometimes you just want a simply elegant notecard to send to someone without any greeting on the front.

These lovely notecards made with the Serene Love DSP (Online Exclusives)fit that bill perfectly!

These monochromatic cards feature the different patterns within the colors in the DSP pack - night of navy, old olive and lost lagoon. It’s a GORGEOUS pack of DSP! The only slightly time consuming part of them is fussy cutting out the flowers for the punched circle. And some of us like fussy cutting! 😉

A pack of 4-6 of these notecards would make a great gift for someone!

Happy Weekend! Another bright and whimsical card featuring the paper strip technique I showed how to do in yesterday’s post. 🍄🍄

This card features the adorable and very fun colored Toadstool Gardens designer series pack. I just love the current trend of mushrooms/toadstools in decorating, paper crafts, kitchen ware, etc. I was very happy to see this DSP in the 2025 Sale-A-Bration brochure! 🍄🍄🍄

Sale-A-Bration means you can earn this cute DSP for FREE with a $60 Stampin’Up order Jan. 7-Feb.28! AND it coordinates with the Terrific Toadstools stamp set and coordinating punch in the spring mini catalog which also starts Jan. 7!

Happy Friday! As promised, here are the steps of how to do the very cool paper strip technique that I showed on yesterday’s card. So fun and easy! And you get 4-5 cards out of it!

1. Cut several 3/4” by 8 1/2” strips of a favorite DSP pack. Use several patterns and make sure most of the pattens are small so they show up well in the little rectangles.

2. Glue those strips horizontally on a piece of 8 1/2” by 11” white cardstock. Leave a small space between each strip. (See photo #1)

3. Cut a variety of 1/2”, 3/4” and 1” strips on the 8 1/2” side of the sheet you created in step 2. I cut most of them 3/4”, but had some variety.
(See photo #2)

3. Glue the strips horizontally to a 3 3/4 x 5” piece of cardstock. Leave a little space between the rows. You can stagger the patterns or line them up randomly. ( see photo #3) You will have extra of the strips hanging off the sides and will flip the cardstock over and trim off the excess to use for another card.

4. Have fun and layer this piece of cardstock with other layers to create your card, add a sentiment on a punched or die cut shape, some embellishments and maybe another fun shape poking out behind your sentiment! (See photo #4). So fun!!

I used the fabulous new Friends of the Ocean DSP, stamp set and dies and iridescent dots on these cards- coming January 7 in the Spring Mini Catalog! 🐠💦🦀

Hello! Well, the weather outside might be snowy and cold, but I’ve been “escaping” to the beach and ocean today by playing with the new Friends of the Ocean Suite (coming Jan. 7 in the new Spring Mini catalog!) 🐠💦🦀

Don’t you just love the bright and vibrant colors of the Friends of the Ocean designer series paper - melon mambo, coastal cabana and pumpkin pie? They will cure the winter blues right away! 😊

How did I make these cards? Did I cut out all those little rectangles and glue them down separately? Nope! The technique I used was quick, easy and fun AND creates many cards at one time!

I’ll show you the technique tomorrow! You’ll be hooked and making tons of these cards! 😊💕

Hello! How cute are these sweet cards featuring the Storybook Moments Suite from the upcoming spring mini catalog? I loved creating them - it was like I was transported to springtime in England long ago. 🌷🌷

This suite of gorgeous products will be available when the spring mini catalog goes live on Jan. 7. You’ll love the old-fashioned patterns and muted colors of the Storybook Moments DSP. There are also lots of garden themed papers which I’ll show in upcoming posts.

The DSP pack also includes 2 sheets of punch out characters and images that are ready to use in your cards. The animal images in my cards are from those sheets. Easy and fun!

I also love the intricate frames of the Storybook Friends die set. They perfect frame the sweet animal images.

Be ready to order this wonderful Storybook Moments Suite when the spring mini catalog goes live on Jan. 7!

Happy Whatever Day It Is! This time between Christmas and New Year’s is always so weird, but fun. You don’t know what day it is and you don’t really care!🤪😊

I DO know that the new Serene Love DSP pack is so gorgeous! (See all the patterns in it in first photo below.) It is available now and is one of three packs of DSP that SU introduced this month. I really love the calm and classic look of night of navy, old olive, lost lagoon and basic white in this new pack. So elegant and versatile!

I decided to use a five cut Stack, Cut, Shuffle technique with this DSP to really showcase the different pattens. Look in the comments section for the diagram I was trying to follow for the cutting and what I actually did. 🤪 It just goes to show, there is no right or wrong way to Stack, Cut, Shuffle! 😊

Sentiment stamps used -
- With You in Mind ( spring mini catalog - starts Jan. 7)
- Birthday Celebration (spring mini)
- Hearts of Elegance (Online Exclusives - available now)

THIS is why we create and send hand stamped cards. ❤️ Please read this long post.

Way back in October many of us stampers gathered to stamp Christmas cards for area nom-profit agencies. One of the agencies is our local Meals on Wheels program that provides free, home delivered meals to seniors who cannot easily leave their homes. Many are rather lonely and the MOW deliveries are their only contact with actual people during the day.

We stamped over 150 Christmas cards for Meals on Wheels clients that day.

The photos below show the progression of stamping cards that day, the director of MOW receiving the cards, the process of volunteers signing and packaging the cards and finally the cards being delivered with the meals on Christmas Day and today. A big thank you to Connie Olson and Vicki Holthaus for their work at MOW and also as stampers!

Here is what Vicki told me about the impact these cards have on their clients -

The cards are all prepared and separated according to routes and ready to go out with the special hot meals delivered on Christmas day. We only do the Christmas day delivery for Jo Co MOW clients that are not celebrating with friends or family. We had 80 clients sign up for it. Each card the lovely Stampin Up ladies created contains a little hand-written note and a $10 HyVee gift card (donated by community members). While I have never delivered the Christmas day meals, I have heard it is a very joyous experience for the clients and the volunteers. Thank you to ALL who crafted the lovely and cheerful cards! I’m sure I’ll see them displayed on end tables and kitchen counters at clients’ houses after Christmas. 🥰

She also wrote -

The clients really do enjoy these cards! In the past, I’ve seen some of the Stampin Up cards displayed on the clients’ counters or end tables like artwork, and they stay in that spot for quite a while. I have one client who puts hers on the fridge with magnets. I know the card-makers at your house sprinkle lots of love into them and the clients feel it. ❤️

Making our hand stamped cards and sending them out into the world really does make a difference in peoples’ lives! Keep up your great work, all you stampers, in 2025!!❤️❤️❤️

Happy Christmas Eve! 🎄❄️🧑‍🎄

Here are some beautiful cards created by Stampin’ Secret Santas this month!

What are Stampin’ Secret Santas? Several of my stamping friends are participating in a Stampin’Up Secret Santas event that I have organized. They are paired up with another stamping friend and secretly send them cards once a week throughout November and December. They may leave clues about themselves in the cards, but they don’t sign them. In early January we will have a big reveal party. It’s so fun!

It’s also great to get card design ideas from each other. I share photos of cards people are receiving from their Santas with the group throughout the two months. But we always keep the identity secret until Jan. 7!

Join us next year for Stampin ’ Secret Santas! 🧑‍🎄🎅🏼🧑‍🎄🎅🏼

Happy December 23rd! Does the Santa in your life still need a present idea for you? I do gift certificates…. Have them contact me (SOON!) 😉

Happy Winter Solstice! It’s a little more sunlight each day from here on out! 🌞❄️🌞❄️

This beautiful card was sent to me by my good friend and fellow stamper, Suzie Nielsen. It’s so festive, the color combo is perfect for winter and it just seems to symbolize the Winter Solstice (though we actually have no snow here now!)

The One of a Kind stamp set and dies (used on this card) have been so popular this season and are due to be back in stock this week. Perfect for your winter cards! ❄️❄️❄️
